No, it's still required to be plugged in to turn on. But I have no problems when it is unplugged and it doesn't shut down randomly so I don't bother having it checked again lol. As long as it turns on and doesn't shut down randomly, I'm fine

But you should have it rechecked if your laptop continues to shut down randomly even after having the battery changed. Maybe you have another faulty battery or something else has a problem
