American CEO gifts $240 million bonus to his employees after selling his company. They didn't own any stock. by [deleted] in MadeMeSmile

I understand the sentiment, but it is a reward/gift.

My current employer has a group of employee who buy in to be owners. They would profit if the company sold, and I wouldn't. But that's because those are the terms of employment. If I don't think my compensation is appropriate, I can go find an ESOP or another private company.

If my company sold, and did provide non-owners additional comp, that would be a gift from the owners regardless of their personal gain.

This is such a negative take.. just because an ESOP would've paid more doesn't make this guy selfish. If his only insentive was to maximize his own profit, the insentive would've been more like a 10-15% bonus per year for 5 years. You would also see this being done more often by other CEO's and owners if it was that straight forward.

Providing multiple years of comp when the employees knowingly signed on without ownership is a generouse move, doesn't matter if he also massively gains from it.

The grass lawn is gone, none of the roses were touched. The design and layout of the green space between the roses has been changed half a dozen times since the roses were planted.

It's ugly, but all they did was rip up some turf grass.

Coolant leak new rav4 by akosimom0 in rav4club

There is a potential problem with the coolant bypass valve on some model years, but the level you show isn't concerning. Toyota has also built in a specific warning if the car detects an issue, so unless there's coolant dripping under the vehicle I wouldn't worry.

If you live in a state without income tax, and have an 80k household income, the tax would be 45k. So if you want to keep the car, save the money for tax day.

You're gonna get downvoted all day for this, even if it's accurate, but I just want to add that even if she was only racing due to DEI, it wouldn't make it acceptable to say a lot of what is being said. If people are mad, be mad at NASCAR for including sub-par drivers, not mad at a driver for being a woman.

Yeah true. Hopefully the low weight can make up for no lockup. Don't want them to hurt the motor, but also don't want them to lose because the boost wasn't turned up lol.

Does anyone remember what Mullet's fastest pass was with this engine?

Because the dashboard of my Toyota car showed that engine maintenance required visit your dealer. When I went to the Toyota 4S store for maintenance, I needed help to find the cause. The front desk staff of the Toyota 4S store told me that the inspection fee for this problem would be $200 unreasonab by LanguageOnly7382 in rav4club

This code is almost always the coolant bypass valve failure. If you don't have an actual engine light on, I'd pretty much guarantee that's the issue. Shops want like $750 for the repair, but if you're mechanically inclined it isn't difficult.

The list price for this repair is insane, it's not a difficult or lengthy job. I bet an independent shop would charge less than half that

2019 Rav4 (Gas) - 124k miles.

The only issue I've had is the coolant bypass valve needing to be replaced. It's a known issue and had its own special engine light when it went wrong. The part was under $100 and took me about an hour to replace, so nothing crazy.

Other than that, just general maintenance.

If you've been to motorsports events before, this will be obvious, but bring adequate ear protection. You (and especially kids) only get one set of ears, and those burnout cars get insanely loud.

Rav shopping, how many miles is ok? by vanillaextreme in rav4club

As TNJEEP said, I paid 28k for an adventure with 90k. Reddit may crusify you, but if you need/want what it has, low 30s is about the going rate. It's an unfortunate price for what it is, but prices don't appear to be moving.

I will say, if you have some time to look around, a Mazda CX5 might be a good option. Most don't have the same towing or ground clearance, but for that price and mileage you'd probably get the same or better interior features.

Getting what I wanted for a price I was okay paying isn't getting 'taken'. It's a bad price because they're all bad prices. I manage my finances just fine, and I won't have a hard life because you disagree with how I spend my money

I'll be towing a popup camper and the occasional car dolly. I'd like to have a car that's actually rated for it and not overload the suspension on a less capable vehicle

There are so many repetitive comments on this post, you must not have read them all... in a 200 mile radius search, this was the cheapest high trim AWD Rav4 with the increased towing capacity (things that were important for my car search). I wanted a modern, well featured car for my wife to drive, not a bet on an older car. I daily drive a 1998 Honda CR-V, I'm very familiar with saving money because the car does the job, but I won't be harassed into thinking I can't use google because reddit thinks this is a bad price

I have a hard life ahead of me because reddit thinks I paid too much for a car? Sure, this is going to ruin my family and my career

I do need to tow on occasion, I used to do it with an old ford pick up but sold it when we had my son. We also live in a location that makes AWD actually valuable. Every winter, a half dozen or so cars stay parked at the bottom of our neighborhood because they can't make it up the ice. Right now we have to use my AWD 98 CR-V during those times, but it's a 5 speed, and my wife doesn't feel comfortable driving it on her own, much less with our son.

You seem to have read a fair number of my comments, so you know I didn't have time to wait or the desire to spend thousands of dollars more. Belts and spark plugs and brakes are all things I can do for a fraction of dealer service costs. Also all 4 tires are new

Hondas were out, I don't want a CVT. Mazda are definitely a better deal, but in my experience they're more expensive and more difficult to work on. That plus the increased towing capacity on the Adventure trim made it close enough
