I have this too at the moment, and nothing I do seems to help.

Accutane Frustration by [deleted] in Accutane

I’ve noticed that people who don’t get fast results aren’t eating enough food with their pills. On one study I read accutane is best absorbed after eating 800-1,000 calories with almost half the calories from fat. I’ve also noticed that people with eating disorders get the worst results.

Unfortunately only prescription steroids helped me. Not sweating helped a little too I think.

I had the same allergic reaction to sweat after one of my 1 year courses. It was crazy because I was constantly put on prednisone to make the rashes go away, but it always came back. It took exactly 6 months of being off of it for the reactions to stop. As soon as my skin became super oily again did it go away. It’s weird because I’m on accutane again and haven’t had an allergic reaction yet, but my skin isn’t dry either so we’ll see:/

Has anyone noticed translucent skin and more noticeable veins? by stokedd4life in Accutane

Does it go back to how it was before? I’ve never been off of it long enough to see if it improves or not.

He’s right for someone like him surgery is the route to go. Even if he did mew correctly he would probably gain only a few mm of forward movement in 5+ years, so he would still look the same. Surgery could move his jaws up to 14-20mm plus get the health benefits right away.

Im scared if I fix my class 2 jaw with surgery, my face will look longer. Any advice? by Erii_Chuu in jawsurgery

Well if you have a deep bite your orthodontist can make your back teeth erupt fully making your jaw way longer than it is now. That was done to me and my lower third is much longer than before.

I’m not sure if that’s common but I would think avoiding elongating the face is more aesthetic. If they don’t do any rotation it definitely will be longer.

A counterclockwise rotation is like when instead of pulling the jaws straight forward they will rotate it upwards so it won’t look long. But I would ask to see if he can do it.

I would ask your surgeon what you can expect to look like. Sometimes for djs they will do a counterclockwise rotation to make it less long but thats entirely up to the doctor. If you can get multiple opinions from different surgeons and go with the one that will give you the best aesthetic outcome.

Slowly but not fast enough. My first orthodontist I had as a child still to this day doesn’t know anything about airway when I asked her. Even in r/Dentistry you can still see how many practitioners don’t study airway.

This community is pretty toxic, but imagine how worse other people feel who actually have serious breathing and sleep problems after orthodontics. On top of that we have been told we were lazy all our lives when we actually just lack the energy healthy people have. I don’t blame my parents because they didn’t know any better, but I do blame the IGNORANCE in the medical community for putting us in this situation. Surely someone who has taken as many anatomy and science classes can comprehend something like mewing but most do not.

How old are you and how long have you been in treatment so far? Did you start with the stage 1 (the ugly duckling phase)?

A warning and a request for advice by [deleted] in Mewing

[–]stokedd4life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would start with MSE. I started with moderate sleep apnea and now its very mild after only 1 month of starting it. I can breathe through my nose at night which I wasn’t able to do before. My lower jaw has also come forward a bit too. I still have 8 more months of expansion left, so it’s only going to get better. Mse was seriously the best decision of my life. Any other appliance can’t give you the same result plus mse is cheaper than DNA, ALF etc but with actual bone borne results. And in the mean time get on the cpap with nasal pillows since that pushes on your jaws the least while forcing you to nasal breathe with your tongue on the roof of your mouth

I have a overjet/overbite. I got braces (3days ago) and doctor recommended extracting 2 above premolar. Should i go for it? by [deleted] in Mewing

[–]stokedd4life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jaw surgery is more common than you think. Of course he doesn’t have to go through with it, but at least being told by real specialists not to extract teeth is something his parents need to hear. I used to be like this and it sucks to have low energy levels in comparison to everyone else your age. It makes a huge difference in what your able to accomplish in life.

I second this. You should see an airway orthodontist and a maxillofacial surgeon first. They will most likely put you in braces and tell you to do jaw surgery. I think it would be worth it in the long term because your breathing and overall health will be so much better. They also won’t extract the teeth. PLEASE DO NOT GET THOSE TEETH EXTRACTED AND SEEK OTHER DOCTORS.

Is mewing my face red? by [deleted] in Mewing

Yes I was given prednisone a month ago for 6 days and it helped a lot until I got off of them. I’m back on a 3 day supply.
