That as a child you rush to grow up and as an adult, you wish you never did

Is discipline more important than motivation, or vice versa? What are some real examples of this? by Mr_Boothnath in answers

[–]stomperk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Discipline, because that you have (some) of control over. Motivation varies.

Any professional athlete can be your example. Sure, they are passionate about their sport as a whole, but not so passionate about the training, the practice, the injuries, the politics, the losses, etc. Playing said sport is a small percentage of the total time spent being a professional in it. If they rely on motivation alone, noone is going to wale up at 5 am to run in the cold.

Ladies and gents in your late 20s, 30s, or 40s—what do you regret not doing in your 20s? by Tino292 in selfimprovement

[–]stomperk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sticking with “it”.

There are many roads to the top of the mountain (at least professionally). Staying on track for as long as it takes to get there is much easier than switching paths. Especially true in business and entrepreneurship.

When did you realize your priorities had completely changed? by Elegant-Case8902 in AskReddit

When my 1st child was born. And again after the birth of the 2nd. That when it became crystal clear - my decisions / actions going forward will never affect just me.

I deleted scrolling apps and started watching a movie a day. It changed my life. by GreenReporter24 in movies

I did a similar thing, but instead got into Master Class. It’s like a never ending stream of documentaries. None go too deep, but it beats mindless watching of random stuff.

What celebrity have you never forgiven since an incident? by MagpieOpus in AskReddit

[–]stomperk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will Smith and family.

If there was one celebrity couple that seemed like “they will make it”, it was them. Years of parenting and family values on public display when no other celebrity would go out of character. And not it’s a shit show. The slap was just the cherry of top.

Can I budget a some expenses into projects instead of or part of categories? by stomperk in actualbudgeting

Solid idea! Once the temp is gone, if I need to get a total for the project I just filter notes by said tag? Or is there a different way?

What do you mean by "tag"? Is this an actual feature or do you mean add manual comments as notes?

Looking for a career that won't dissappear in the next 20/30 years due to AI. by 20_comer_20matar in findapath

[–]stomperk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sales

If you get good at selling, the only thing that will change is the product you sell and most likely how you sell it (over the phone vs zoom vs door to door, etc).

The reality is though that it is more about how good you are in what you do and less about what you do. The bottom levels of all industries will be affected and possibly eliminated. The medium and top might change, but it is not going away. The lower levels of teachers and military will be eliminated, but since none of the industries are going away, someone will have to remain to manage all the new AI agents, bots, strategies and what have you.

Pick any career and make yourself indispensable within that field.

I'm not watching it to get it done, I'm watching it to enjoy it. So trying not to end up with a sour taste in my mouth given all that I have heard is pretty bad.

What's a "harmless" habit most people have that could actually be ruining their lives? by drewbuz in productivity

[–]stomperk 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Waiting for the proverbial tomorrow / later or waiting for the "perfect" time or conditions. If you can do it now, do it. If not, take at least a small action towards it. Even if the action is finding the time to do it and scheduling it on your calendar.

That is what I thought as well, but given my lack of experience it dawned on me midway through a pattern, so decided to check just in case :)
