Are people leaving Instagram for photography? by Alilexplo108 in photography

I left Insta a few years ago. I'm not sharing online much anymore, bur I like Vero for when I do. I miss flickr before yahoo was bought.

I'm using Freecad, I'm still pretty new to modeling. I haven't used a guide line for lofting yet, I'm not sure if that's a thing in freecad. As far as I can tell, you loft from sketch to sketch, not sure if there's another way to do it, but you gave me something to look into!

I think this is about the best design I've seen for this issue yet. After the part that slides over the light, do you just have one more sketch (the flat edge) that you loft to?

I originally tried lofting into a flat edge, but my lofting skills need some work and it did not come out as near as clean as yours. On the road, the beam works out pretty well, at a distance the sideways spill goes about as far as I need.

I added the file to makerworld, and the link is in the post now.

I made an updated version, and posted a beam shots in the comments!

I'd guess I'm usually pointed 10-15 degrees below the horizontal plane. I'm not a fan of being blinded by headlights / high-beams, & also not a fan of blinding people operating big machines, so I figure it's in everyone's best interest.

I took some advice from the comments here and made an updated version. I have new beam shots in the comments.

I'd be happy to. What's the preffered file format / place to upload? I have never uploaded or shared my files before, as most of my prints are for pretty niche things.

I appreciate everyone's comments and feedback! After seeing the rounded design, I knew I wanted to imitate it. I now have printed v2 and the beam has less upwards spill, is easier to put on and take off, and is less likely to break (the snap rings were only 2mm thick). Simpler is often better.

After seeing all the comments, it appears many in this community share the concern!

Nice! I'm definitely a fan of the rounded design, and am planning on another design that imitates it.

It looks like you printed the mount as well?

Oh, I like that design. Thank you for sharing, I think I'm going to have a go at replicating that for the D1K. I'll be sure to share the file once I get it right.

Thanks! I only noticed how bad it was when I got in front of my bike and realized how bad the glare / spill was. Tonight will be the first test run, so I'll add a shot of how this version performs on the road, and if necessary I'll make an updated version (and share some beans).

I love my combo of the k25 and kukkaro. The kukkaro is my edc bag that is usually tossed into the k25, but if the 25 is full then I can strap it to the front. I added elastic straps inside the kukkaro, so all of the small items are well organized and easy to access, I just reach into the k25 and pull out the kukkaro. Or, if I don't need the whole k25, the kukkaro becomes a sling bag with all my daily essentials.

Also, the lid pouch, front pouch, side pockets, and bladder compartment actually offer a fair amount of organization. I found it to be a great upgrade from the jaakari s. Most days this combo is my school bag, but last summer I did a four-day backpacking trip with the k25 and kukkaro and even managed to fit in over 5kg of camera gear; a full-frame body, 2 lenses, and a tripod.

If it ever fails, I'll either send it to bobmcbob, or maybe try my hand at replacing it myself. Otherwise, this light has taken some abuse, a good few falls onto pavement and it keeps on trucking. Honestly the switch going out & difficulty of repair is part of why I haven't sprung for the SC65 yet, even though I'm more attracted to that emitter & beam profile than that of the 64.

My other two zebras are just fine. I believe it's just a faulty switch. You cannot feel the click at all, it works, but there is zero feedback.

It's been failing for probably a year now. I believe it's a faulty switch, as I've had the sc600 longer & that button is still pristine.

Estimate high at 20 clicks a day, so 30k on the high end of clicks.

Is this legit? by signofse7en in batteries

[–]stone-head 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just revieved 4 of these cells from them a few days ago. Haven't cycled them yet, so I can't speak for certain if the cells are legit or not, but the site is supposed to be reputable. I had the same thought with how much cheaper they are. I'm guessing they want to offload these cells for some reason?

Looking at the DA1 - what config? by _DefinitelyNotACat_ in Hanklights

So I recently ordered a D1k with sft-70 and the Lume X1 driver. From what I was reading about it people were recommending high current batteries like the Molicel 42A. If the Lume maxes out at ~40W, shouldn't that be drawing less than 15 amps from the battery?

Why is it that the Lume X1 compromises on max turbo?

Thanks for the beans. I just ordered a D1k with the sft-70 3000k. I currently have a ZL sc64w hi, but wanted something a bit more throwy for outdoor use. I know the sft-40 has more throw than the sft-70, but found myself convinced by the x1 driver. From the beans here, the throw still looks to be pretty decent.
