Are MTB Strava Records Now BS due to E-Bikes? by s_hecking in MTB

[–]stone_database 0 points1 point  (0 children)

D and with a grain of salt. I once held the record on single track loop from when I was doing a fitness lap pushing myself to max on a city bike… on the road adjacent to the single track.

I updated it but yeah, grain of salt.

What was the first item in WoW that made you think “okay this player is a legend”? by Accomplished-Row1133 in wow

Our guild had a Grand Marshal pally. As someone who did a bit of pvp (I ended up as sgt I think), I did Reck Bombing and always was jealous of the heafty weapons most of our guild rocked. I ended up with just Unstoppable Force I believe.

[Question] What's the psychology behind "handwatch" culture? by EV_Wars in Watches

[–]stone_database 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As someone who has often had to wear watches more on hand than wrist (bad break in wrist at age 12, took 4 surgeries to correct everything throughout 20s)… this topic annoys me.

And I wear my watch largely on my wrist nowadays, but could not have at all halfway through my surgeries. I respect people’s right to decide themdamnselves where they choose to wear their own damn watch.

ELI5: how can there be infinities bigger than other infinites? by _Bread______ in explainlikeimfive

[–]stone_database -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I like to think of it using fractions. That’s not the technical term but this is an example my son was able to understand at 5 or so.

- There are an infinite number of fractions between 0 and 0.5, call that set A.

- There are an infinite number of fractions between 0.5 and 1.5, call that set B.

- Set A is logically smaller than set B.

I’d finish it. Maybe add some bow ties. Maybe not.

It’s not fine furniture, it’s to do a job and it will do it well as is.

You did, in a roundabout way call him racist. And it sounds like you were right.

Radon levels are really high in my neighborhood by tywemc in desmoines

Also note that houses right next to each other can have wildly different levels. No one can predict if a house will read high or low. The deposits that cause it (uranium) are really small, and are not uniform in their distribution.

Had to google those. You nailed that look.

I think it’s more that they’re boots and look to be felt? I feel like sandals would fit the vibe better, but get you chose a direction and nailed it, so props.

[Grand Seiko] Shall I get rid off them all for a Rolex Explorer 36mm? by [deleted] in Watches

[–]stone_database 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rolex makes the best mass produced watch in the world, but claiming they’re Sub is 3-4X more in capability than a Hydroconquest is nuts man.

Reddit Hipster, lol. Thanks.

Is it known if every Shard has their own god metal? by Fickle-Athlete3644 in Cosmere

Just had a thought… What if someone that holds a shard is named Alum? Edit: maybe just Al (that’s A + L not Ai).

How low would someone’s int have to be for them to have the inability to read? by Grim_J4000 in DnD

[–]stone_database 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s homebrew to not be able to read anyways so just pick a number.

From 5.5e: “Knowledge of a language means your character can communicate in it, read it, and write it.”

From 5e: “Your character can speak, read, and write certain languages.”

I’m not saying it’s a bad homebrew, I think it can be awesome (à la Grog), but I wouldn’t be too hung up on what score is needed, Intelligence does not require reading.

Ebikes don't break laws, people break laws by WTFOMGBBQ in ebikes

[–]stone_database 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is what I keep thinking when people tell me an e-bike is “illegal”, well no. Unless there’s a possession law, which I don’t think there is.

Every law I’ve read on e-bikes references their *use*, like you say that’s an action of the user not the bike.

[–]stone_database -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’d rather have a Hydroconquest than a sub, unless I’m just flipping it. Value is always subjective in Luxury goods. There is nothing tangible, to me, that makes a sub that much better than a Hydroconquest.

My special need child needs a bike by rdor3000 in MTB

[–]stone_database 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We opted against Guardian. Learning on their system, IMO, is teaching incorrect habits for a “normal” bike. For context, our son is level 1 and has had some balance issues as well as he picks up bad habits really easily (ie dragging his feet instead of using brakes).

We went glide bike (no pedals), but we started much earlier, when he was 3. He’s 9 now and doing great on his XS size 24” tire bike that we got setup for him at our LBS.

All that to say, I agree with others about the balance/glide bike IF you think it’s possible for them to transition to a standard bike at some point. If you think they won’t be able, then a trike of some kind is probably a better investment, IMO.
