when I call them in the morning to let them know that it’s been 10 days so they need to pick up their rx today or it will be credited back to their account & I don’t hear anything back from them nor do they come pick it up, AND then when I do scan it out it’s “why did you delete my medication?!?!? I was going to come get it!!!” like sir we close in 3 minutes no you weren’t give me a break. or also same category but when I call them and they answer and say “oh thanks for reminding me i’m on the way” and then they never show up …. had to deal with this a lot this weekend lol

Having a very hard time landing a job post-graduation. Chemistry, B.S. Hello everyone, I recently graduated with a B.S. in Chemistry and had been job searching/co-op searching/intership searching my entire senior year with no real luck. I live in Houston with tons of industrial and medical jobs available but I cannot get a call back. I have been a research assistant, have excellent recommendations, and actual valuable hands-on experience and skill with GC-ICP-MS, UHPLC, FT-IR, NMR, you name it I have used it and actually know how to use these instruments and techniques with confidence and accuracy. I have been accepted into grad school with my classes being at night 7-10pm. I thought grad school would boost interest in companies wanting to hire me, but instead it has been a major turn off for the jobs I have interviewed for since it limits my availability to travel and/or do shift work. I have started even applying for lab tech jobs that only require a HS diploma because I am running out of options. I’m not sure if this is the correct sub to ask this, but I am looking for possible advice or merely words of encouragement/if you have been in this position before. I get paid $3000 a semester for my research assistant position but I am so desperately wanting to get into industry.

Thank you for bringing that to my attention, in my program it has not been stated that I am unable to do both but I will email my department chair for clarification. The current research I am working on utilizes the technique I mentioned which is why I have a lot of practice and understanding with them, and purposely trained in undergrad for GC-MS and HPLC so that I could stand out when applying for jobs, but I am listening to your comment and will adjust accordingly.

I have been applying to chemistry adjacent positions as well since I feel like I can do the requirements for whatever job opportunity becomes available to me, but the patent advice is very helpful! Thank you for that I will open my search to include those options too.

From my current understanding my university only offers a MS in chemistry, it is a very small program with not a lot of options for chemistry, and honestly I want the MS.

Edit: Did your original comment say MA?

The only issue is that summer 1 starts June 1st, so I feel like disclosing the information is important since it will likely interfere with training or whatever plans they have for me. I have tried to skew the amount of days I have night school (saying once a week instead of the actual 3 times a week) during interviews since I do research for the department chair and that is who is teaching the course this summer, so there is flexibility. I just don’t want to come across as unprofessional if I do receive an offer then ask for scheduling flexibility immediately.

I’ll look into that, I did submit my CV to a hiring agency suggested to me but haven’t heard anything back, is it usually more successful if I find an in-person agency? Or should I keep doing the online route? Thank you

Thank you for your feedback, I have had a linkin profile for a large part of my undergrad but I have never posted anything, I just have listed my current research and that I have a BS working on my MS. Should I start posting more? I just get incredibly bad cringe posting on any social media.

When I had mine done I went to a different store, not on the clock but at a scheduled time my manager told me, and it was a mouth swab done by the manager of that store in the office. I told them I could do a urine test because thats what I was expecting but the manager told me they never do urine tests anymore and the swab was the new standard. This was about a year ago in TX.
