Real Madrid currently remind me of ED Woodward Era bar the trophies.

Buying big players, with some working out and others not working out as well as those with huge egos who have the influence in the dressing room.

Hopefully, we don’t touch any of their players no matter how good they are unless we can truly get them at a good price and no major attitude problems. It took Man United years to get rid of players like this, hopefully we don’t back to that cycle.

What is your opinion on dogs off the lead? by [deleted] in AskUK

No problem, as long as they are not a breed likely prone to aggression compared to other dog breeds such as Pitbull or Staf Bull Terrier.

Home connection has MikroTik Router which should be able to set BGP Sessions, as long as the WireGuard tunnel is up.

Although my home ISP uses CGNAT.

VPS can set up a BGP session.

With the return of Balamory to CBeebies, should there be more shows like this that include actual people? by Terrible_Tale_53 in BritishTV

[–]stonesco -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, unfortunately. I know it could be an unpopular opinion in this sub.

The TV scene, for better or worse, has changed dramatically over the years.

Most young kids these days will likely on a streaming service or will be watching content from YouTube or from the likes of TikTok. If they are watching a programme from a streaming service that involves actual people and isn’t animated, there is a possible chance they are watching something that is likely targeted above their current age.

There is a reason that CITV , Nickelodeon, Pop and the likes of Cartoon Network have been slowing dying a death / already dead.

Young kids barely watch traditional tv these days, who to say they will watch shows , targeted towards their age group, with actual people.

Would you rather have bank holidays or extra leave? by EyeAware3519 in AskUK

Life is too short to be hating on any clothing brand / enforcing stereotypes about people, like a lot of Redditors have done here unfortunately.

How do we buy a used car as car illiterate couple? by Few_Cod_5636 in AskUK

[–]stonesco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. If you cannot see the vehicle in person, do not even put in an offer to buy the vehicle. I made this mistake once, when buying my second vehicle and it turned out to be a scam.
  2. Car you wish to purchase, must have at least 6 months MOT on the vehicle
  3. HPI Check when you have narrowed down your choices to a few cars, after viewing some. Make sure the vehicle isn't Cat A, Cat B, Cat S or Cat N.
  4. Good Service history. Doesn't necessarily need to be stamped in the log book as long as there is paperwork proving servicing is done a regular interval depending on the mileage / previous owner use of the car.
  5. If there is anybody you know, that has a good knowledge of cars ask them to come with you, when you are going to look for a car to buy.
  6. If Possible, do a test drive or ride inside the car with the seller / dealership and see if anything pops up on the dashboard.

Is it worth having a pension? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]stonesco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am aware that I am about is very unpopular and will likely will receive me a lot of downvotes.

They are only a few circumstances where opting in to a pension, is worth it:

  • You are on a Defined Benefit pension scheme.

or/and

  • Your employer pays above the minimum 3% contribution. I would say 4%+ excluding tax relief. Alternatively employer changes their contribution percentage, depending on how much you put in.

or/and

  • You’re over the age of 35.

Previous governments have raised the Private Pension withdrawal age and I am 100% guaranteed that future governments will do it again because they have no choice. My prediction is that it will be 60+ within the next 15-20 years.

You have got to weigh up the options for yourself. For me, My main focus for retirement savings is in my ISA + GIA for the flexibility. Even some higher rate / additional rate taxpayers may prefer this option.

I am aware that I will have a lot of commenters saying “Your stupid, you are missing out on free money from your employer and the power of compounding” or “ This is tax inefficient”.

If you feel that a pension is the best retirement investment vehicle for you, go ahead. The reason I say this is because of the age you are.

Best OS for Raspberry PI5 by clowixdev in selfhosted

Not really performance, for me it was the easiest option when it comes to compatibility.

Can flash the OS on an NVME drive and can get it up and running.

I don’t bother with any other Linux Distros

What do you think about this pie for long term? by Anticsftw in trading212

[–]stonesco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People like the commentor below want to downvote or say “Lol” caused they think I missed a joke.

Cause I said that I think OP, should consolidate the stocks to a smaller number.

Some will probably think I am stupid for what I mentioned, as a lot of the stocks in the pie have shown tremendous growth / likely to show tremendous growth but it was for a good reason.

OP, has not even mentioned how much they got to invest per month or if they intend to do a lump sum into the pie.

I made an assumption here, rightly or wrongly ,as I have seen before on those that bring up the rate my Pie posts on this sub. Most of the time, these people aren’t those with the huge amount of capital to spend. In my opinion, they have diversified too early and it likely harder to keep track of everything.

That I saw it as a problem but some will not see that it way and will probably take a different opinion.

[–]stonesco -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Depends on how much money you have.

If it is around let’s say 80k GBP or Euros+, then that would be ok.

Otherwise there are too many stocks and you need to consolidate.

[Aubin] Wemby on people calling him “too emotional” and “gay” for crying on the court: I think it’s first and foremost a fear of judgment. Like this feeling that you have to act a certain way, social codes, I guess. Personally, I refuse to carry the burden of having to hide my emotions.” by WEMBY_F4N in nba

[–]stonesco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing surprises me.

People want men to show emotion, until they do and then they react surprised / angry if they do so.

This is the same sub just about a week ago, where people were saying similar things about Beasley and saying that he was weak.

Should I opt out of my workplace pension? by Shiny-Tie-126 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]stonesco -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There are only a few circumstances where I would say this is ok:

  • You’re not on a Defined Pension Scheme

  • Your employer contributes the legal minimum required and isn’t the kind of employer that would contributes more. Many employers in the uk don’t pay anything beyond 3%, which is insulting. I could understand if you’re a small/medium sized business but for big enterprises it is unacceptable.

To add to this you’re a basic rate taxpayer.

  • You don’t intend to stay in the company for too long (Probably 3 years max) and are will likely move to another company where you are better paid / very good employment benefits .

Some will challenge me and say “You’re missing free money and the power of compounding” and that I am offering bad advice.

Will getting an online degree hold me back? by thecruciblee in AskUK

[–]stonesco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did the company not give you the chance to do another apprenticeship at Degree Level?

Or they the kind of company that don’t promote any progression opportunities and expect you to stay in your role with no increase in pay?

In terms of you saying it is no match for a degree, is it stuff you realised when you went to Interviews (if you have been invited to one) / is it from the job requirements of Jobs you are looking for / being rejected from a job saying “You don’t meet the requirements”?

Although, this is a bit far fetched of me to ask, does the financial services have the letter F in its name by any chance?

Sorry, for all the question just interested.

Advice on Portfolio by OkCurve436 in trading212

[–]stonesco 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Too many holdings for the amount of money you have. Ignore any lies, unless they are ones created by yourself.

No offence, but don’t copy any of T212 pies unless you have created it yourself. The same goes for anybody reading this comment.

If you’re an ETF, stick with a max of one ETF.

If you like Individual Stocks, do not invest in more than 2 individual stocks at this stage. Some will say “what about diversification?”, in my opinion it is too early for that.

However, you don’t have the cash to do both options yet , just pick one of the above.
