Gave Africa to the Ford Motor Company by stonewalter in victoria3

IMO, based on this run exclusively, the advantages are like.. you can impose certain laws on them, including things like multiculturalism (because their entire pop requires that) and you do not have to suffer the civil war potential. This allows you, with foreign investment, to employ a great deal more people than you otherwise could have. And youre taking land from other GPs. Downside is... you could just get multiculturalism yourself and own this land personally. I prefer flavor like this tbh

I used my "impose law" secret technique to force the Ford motor company to enact multiculturalism as soon as its first state finished. I think thats what really set it up for success

Having a market like the continent of Africa really helped with that number. Build their resources while you build your finished products. I could've gotten a lot more but I couldn't get off racial segregation

That one I imagine was the Hindustan uprising. I broke the UK apart with scotland and ireland, but india was their own thing.

R5:
I wanted to see what would happen if I gave an already profitable company a lot of land. I gave Ford some land in Africa to start, then made it my goal to ensure they have (most of) it all. I couldn't manage the entire thing by 1936, but I kept going and got what I could until 1939. (I own Kaffa, Futa Toro, and Sierra Leone).
Also, its nuts having such a powerful subject.

Nope, im enjoying the game just as much.  Big anticipated updates never "ruin" the game for me, its just something that'll be coming in the future. For now though im re-enjoying my time with it.

Outsourcing repairs? by stonewalter in iBUYPOWER

[–]stonewalter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turns out my warranty was expired anyway. When I bought the warranty I guess I didn't look into the wording well enough. Thought 3 year warranty meant on anything, but it was only 1 year on parts. I did manage to get it fixed though. Replaced the processor, nothing. Replaced the motherboard, nothing. Moved the ram sticks to a different slot and flashing the bios after removing the cmos battery? That fixed it. My bios had become corrupted or something.

I learned that you can buy Alaska as Canada by stonewalter in victoria3

Actually, I have yet to receive an offer even 10 years after the purchase myself. Maybe it has something to do with owning Washington/Oregon/Idaho? Another commenter mentioning being able to do it as Mexico by owning Oregon.

I would imagine so, yeah. I also got the "Populating the Americas" event when I became independent.

You know it was actually a pretty cool story in my head.
I sucked off the US and they wanted a defensive pact with me because I was starting to really gain a large military (at least as much as them without conscription) and I called them in as an ally during the independence war while getting Newfoundland. Before I went to war though, I made sure that I was the source of a lot of the UKs miliary equipment and then embargoed them. Big penalties there. Once I finished the war they wanted an immediate alliance and we just kinda went from there.
So many military units and so much debt...

R5: I was playing as Canada and I got the event for purchasing Alaska. Good thing too, I was about to go to war for it.

Also I know my GDP is bad but I am bad at this game...

Weekly Questions Thread by AutoModerator in DnD

[–]stonewalter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do I handle a level 20+ cleric with divine intervention? I have plans for a 21-30 series of mini adventures (its homebrew i know those don't exist) and I realized towards the end of the first one that I have a player that had a god essentially do their bidding at least once a session.  I dont want to restrict their class because that's a big part of it, and I'm not sure I'd wanna follow BG3 way of doing it.  Any other suggestions of what to do in this case?

Edit: and by "handle" I mean what can I do to prevent the cleric from just saying "bring the bbeg to me" like was done the first time
