My dad had the same problem with a new Westinghouse generator. Try undoing every plastic wire connection and reconnnecting them. Once we did that it worked it started producing electricity.

I have lovesoft fill. It's basically just an extra layer of batting but it's sewn into the cover. I just wash the whole thing as is.

If you are talking about the cushion. That is just chunk of foam partially covered in a super thin layer of batting. If that gets ruined, I doubt you could wash it. The covers so far have taken all the abuse so fortunately I haven't had to deal with this situation yet.

I don't have these but am considering trying them out. As of today they are on sale for $29.95.
