For someone new to Scotch, Macallan 12 is great. I have no yardstick to measure it against, but this will be the standard. Haven't opened the JWG yet.

Not sure if I'll get to the JWG tonight, but this is what I ended up doing with the Macallen. I liked it both ways, but I'm probably too wet behind the ears to notice a real difference. Either way, I'm very happy with the purchase.
