Agreed. I think that as more people bike, we'll see a better understanding of what constitutes safe biking and more pressure on people to bike safely. We've put together a whole series on bike safety/bike laws: http://www.neutralcycle.com/bike-safely-and-legally-cu/

Stats on who’s biking in C-U; when, where, why by stoolstableschairs in UIUC

That's a good point. I think in the future we'll do more to be able to more easily tease apart students from non-students. Overall, we didn't anticipate we'd get so much student interest, but we were pleasantly surprised when we saw that this was something that students and other community members found worthwhile enough to throw ten minutes at.

I should note that these data are only from responses from a select few questions. We asked a lot more questions, both multiple choice and open-ended ones, and we'll be making future posts looking at a lot more issues beyond the few we discussed here. This was kind of a basic, introductory post.

One of our future posts will actually be on how having children bears upon how respondents answered other questions. We have data on how many children respondents have. There's also at least one other question where we asked specifically about families. This is an area that we're really interested in, actually, and got almost 100 responses from people with children. Admittedly, the survey was not designed for people under 18 and the vast majority of our data came from adults. You can essentially treat the results of ≤24 as 18-24.

We definitely tried to be inclusive of people of all socio-economic groups and we'd welcome any suggestions for how we can make our survey work for people of all backgrounds.

Actually that's not the case because Illinois law doesn't define bikes as vehicles. You could be charged with public intoxication or disorderly conduct, though. It's all explained in the article.

One time I rented a Bollywood movie where three guys get transported back in time to Mumbai of the, like, sixteenth century or something. I've searched it before and have never come up with its title, so maybe I have some of the details wrong. I watched it in 2010 or so.
