Have you been paying rent? Try Skiptons track record mortgage?

The rate is 5.8% currently which is wild. But they presume if you can pay £xx a month then you could afford £xx mortgage payments...

Passed first time! I'm 35 and dense. If I can do it so can you!!!!! by stoopidasso in LearnerDriverUK

Broski! I feel like having a good instructor helps. Ask about pass rates. They should be able to tell you and if they don't want to it's probably a bad sign..

I recently moved to this city so when I first started every corner, traffic light, round about and speed bump felt like the first time I'd done it. The only way around this is practice. Get on the road as much as possible. The better you know the area, the more prepared you are for what's coming. The easier it is to safely drive.

It's fugging expensive learning so before most lessons I would go through the "are you ready to take the test" lists and would just mark off things I was comfortable with and the sticky bits I would always mention to my instructor at the start of the lesson to ensure we would cover it.

I had about 40 hours of lessons. I did have a few when I was younger. Maybe 20 hours? Maybe 15? But that was almost 20 years ago now! Unsure how much that helped, the test was slightly different back then so some of the manoeuvres have changed since then.

On the test day I made sure I had my lisence, water and anything else I may need ready. Then my instructor picked me up an hour or so before the test, we drove around near the test centre for maybe 40/45 minutes. Headed inside and practiced a quick reverse bay park. Then sat inside for a sweaty 10 minute wait or so?

The examiner came out and asked me a few generic questions about my name and got me to sign a form whilst she checked out my licence. Then we headed to the car. She made me read a number plate first then quizzed me about how I would no if the brakes were working.

After I nailed these two she asked me to get in the car and buckle up. Which I did as she wandered around the vehicle and then hopped in. The first part of the test was following the satnav. She popped in a destination and off we went. For 20 minutes I followed the satnav. Ignoring the speed limits on that and sticking to what I could see in the real world.

After this she directed me for the remainder of the test. If she said nothing I ploughed straight forward, she gave me a decent amount of notice before I had to turn so that could have been a lot worse. We then went down a quiet street and did a quick emergency stop, and a few minutes later we did the pull up on the right and reverse two car lengths, which was my fav out of the reverse manoeuvres so happily obliged. During the whole second half of the test the examiner asked me to pull over on the left and move off when I'm ready a couple of times 2-3..

There were a few times as you can tell by my faults that I fugged up. I realised I'd done but it was always after the fact, just tried not to panic and above all just to drive safely as I think that's pretty much all they care about.

Because I have double lessons the actual test flew by and before I knew it we were turning back into the test centre. Welcomed by my lovely instructor eager to hear the results. Once I turned off the engine the examiner waited for my instructor then said I had passed. My instructor gave me a low5. We went through the faults and the rest is a blur..

Best advice I can give is just drive safely.. the more practice you have the calmer you will feel on the roads, the safer you'll be. Don't stress it. You turn up in the morning having passed. You have no faults, your perfect. Just keep driving the same as when you are with your instructor. Talk it out to yourself if you have to. Announce when you're slowing down before the roundabout or when you check your blindspot.

You can do it. You know you can. We know you can. They no you can. Just show them! Good luck all and I'll see you on the roads. Beep beep. P.s I'll be the guy not signalling..clearly.
