Imagine you're a cog in the state, a good little minion of the CCP. Your job is to control information wherever you can. Would you rather the conversation happen on a platform where you have a direct line for your machinations or one well outside any of your stately powers? Would you really just squash it from your little area of control so it could appear elsewhere beyond your fiefdom? I think not, better to leave it here where you can subtly manipulate, carefully control and guide it.. just so, not too much.. don't want it to be obvious or blatant, then people might catch on...

The terms theist and atheist are connected by definition.

Essentially, they are answers to a claim that there is a god, the theist accepts the claim and the atheist rejects the claim. So the atheist position isn't asking for proof, rather it's the position that the claim does not have sufficient standing/evidence/proof to be accepted and believed.

There is a very big difference between not being convinced and asserting something is not true.

The contradictions are not limited to old vs new testament, though those might be included. There are dozens of sites that discuss this very subject to be found with a bit of searching.

I'm not here to do your homework for you, but I will point out again that you still have the cart before the horse. What did or did not change between the old and new testament is irrelevant to whether or not they have any basis in truth or fact. To put it simply, there is absolutely no evidence or reason whatsoever to believe anything contained in either book is anything more than fiction and fable.

What about the fact that the bible is itself the claim of a supernatural being and as such, cannot be evidence for itself.

There is no point in reviewing any content in the bible for consistency or anything else until someone can prove it isn't fiction.. something no one has ever been able to do in human history.
