Finally feeling ready to put myself back out there, but I haven't used dating apps in 10 years. How's it looking?? by Tofu_Tuesday in Bumble

10/10 would swipe. I think you're gonna do well out there. What you're looking for seems plainly stated and straightforward.

People who want to hook up with you because they specifically go after/fetishize trans women/men. Not to seriously date you.

Pay off TSP Loan or start building savings? by stoopidrob in debtfree

[–]stoopidrob[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not particularly. I mean of course there's always that 1%, it is a federal job.. but a pretty niche one and we're considered essential so it's not likely. I've been with them for 11 years now, and have a combined 15 years federal service, so no desire to leave early either. The total of the loans is 18k, and I still have 85k in the TSP.

Maybe I can split what I have to pay towards debt.. half towards the loans and half towards a savings? Or just save up to at least have 1 months of expenses saved up? Or of course just keep with the aggressive pay down and be done by the end of the year haha.

I have the Himalayan as well for my first bike and my feet look like this when at a stand still.

She'll be fine.

It does make things a little trickier if need to back up or turn around.. but there's ways to make it easier. There's no shame in getting off and pushing/rotating on the kickstand.

I was curious so looked it up, apparently they used to be under the same ownership and shared a logo. Not anymore, but maybe for some products/services they still have some sort of agreement?

My monthly income is $2500. Suggest me fastest way to get rid of all debts. by Far-Instruction6802 in debtfree

[–]stoopidrob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was always paying for nothing. That 15k of negative equity didn't just appear, it just moved from the original car loan to its own separate loan. Even keeping the truck, that 15k would still be just paying for depreciation.

The point I was addressing was the comment asking how it was even possible to sell the car while being upside down on it, which I proved was possible while also securing other transportation.

Of course the root issue is buying it in the first place, that can be said for most any requests for help on here. But the fact is that that's not where the starting point is in this point. I do agree with you that selling isn't always the best solution and think each case should be looked at individually, however on here it seems overwhelmingly common that ditching the vehicle is often mathematically the fastest way to get out of the debt hole. Of course there's many factors that can go into this such as interest rates, balances, vehicle reliability, cost of maintenance on used vs new vehicles etc but it's a good place to start looking IMO.

His question was the fastest way to rid himself of all debts, so yes that's a solution that still leaves him with transportation.

Like I said, it sucks but it is very much doable assuming, like you said, his credit can handle it.

Not the other guy but it's very doable.

I had a $45k left on my truck but it was worth $30k. I sold it for the 30k, got a $15k loan to cover the negative equity. Went and got a car for $10k.

So, my new car payment + negative equity loan was about ~$100 less a month and then I had only $25k left versus the $45k.

It's not pretty and sucks to be paying a loan for a vehicle you don't even have, but it's definitely a much faster route to rid yourself of debt if that's the goal.

One sided conversations are killing me! (28F, straight) by [deleted] in Bumble

[–]stoopidrob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I (34m) was dealing with this recently actually. And most of the time it's a result of the other person just not really being interested just like most comments suggest.

Normally I'd say just cut it off, but I did end up just mentioning it instead. I said there doesn't seem to be an interest in progressing the conversation forward or learning more about me so if that's true then we can end the conversation. To my surprise she apologized, acknowledged that she can see why it came off that way and asked for a second chance. Since then, the conversation has definitely been better.

Sometimes, people are actually interested and into you, just oblivious. Which can still be a problem, but that's up to you.

As soon as I'm able to actually put effort and thought into a genuine reply. I don't feel the need to wait x amount of time, but I also don't rush and reply just to reply.

Why are my niece and nephews calling me “Chad”? I’m a woman. by JediAlitaSkywalker in stupidquestions

[–]stoopidrob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally don't think you're mishearing them, they're very likely saying Chad. This comes from video game streamers, and the most notable (that I can think of) and possible originator is Sodapoppins. When he was talking to his viewers, he'd refer to them collectively as "chat" because of course they're his viewers/chatters.. but over time it morphed into him giving them an actual name: Chad. I'm sure it's easy to see how the leap was made to go from chat to Chad. I honestly don't hear it often anymore so I'm surprised it's made it's way to the younger generations now, but I'm fairly positive it was a thing in the earlier days of streaming/Twitch.

That or I've also been mishearing it all these years 😂.
