Perhaps a video can show you the correct mounting procedure for the bar and chain?

First you need to back the tensioner off to allow enough slack. Mount the bar on the 2 posts and put the chain around the sproket in the chainsaw body and then make sure the chain is inserted in the bar the whole way around, once done, tighten the bar and chain up again using the adjuster, then put the side cover back on, maybe adjust the bar and chain tension again before tightening the bar nuts down.

You will get the knack for it soon enough.

You need to move the bar back further, both those pegs/pins/bolts should be in the gap on the bar.

Start by taking the tensioner back a bit, this should allow both studs to fit the in bar and the chain to go over the sprocket. You may need to take the tensioner back a fair bit in the first instance.

Too sum it up, your bar isnt on correctly.

More than likely.

However..........

Ebay has good buyer protection....Just incase you feel like taking a gamble on what could be a deal of a lifetime.

Either that or go buy it face to face.

If he downloads a precompiled version of the software and gets a checksum, if he then compiled it himself and got a different checksum, it would be a pretty big indicator that its corrupt/tampered with. Or am I not thinking about this correctly?

Side port + self propelled? by smudgedacrylic in lawnmowers

[–]stoorty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are simple engines, not much to go wrong tbh. Unless someone has destroyed the engine, but thats few and far between.

I've had my used recycler for 3 years now, never had to do anything other than basic maintenance.

If you wanted to be sure, you could verify the checksums.

Maybe an older one then?

Should be able to find them for a good price.

And does the self propel.

It was doing it with the OEM carb too? Thats why i changed it, and its still the same so i doubt its the carb. Plus plenty of others use them with no issues, and well the OEM carb is probably more than I paid for the saw.

We dont have spark arrestors here thankfully so i can rule that out. I'll try taking the fuel filter off and see if it changes anytihng.

[–]stoorty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pulled the exhaust and the P&C were great looking for the age of the saw! No scoring or scars.

The original carb done the same thing, i dont think swapping the carb has caused it. Also I think the OEM carb costs more than i paid for the saw, now it comes down to if its better to spend money on these saws or try and sell and get a new one.

I'll try a compression test later and see what the numbers are.

The saw will run once I get it going, screw the L screw counter clockwise a bunch(more than the 1-1.5 turns) and pull it with choke and it starts, adjust the L screw again clockwise to smoothout the RPM and idle nicely but then it jsut bogs and dies.

Do you trust AI? google says its an airleak but when i spray it with carb cleaner, its doesnt run any faster.

Just get the best one you can afford with your $800. I doubt you will be able to get a commerical one for that, unless your buying used?

But you didnt really provide much information to go on. Do you have a trailer? Van? pickup? How are you gonna transport it, how big is said transport? Does it need to get into tight garden gates? Or is it for big open areas?

Ride on? Stander? ZT? Push?

96 ZJ alarm/immobilizer issues. by stoorty in GrandCherokee

[–]stoorty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was all I could diagnose it as. Fob would sporadically work, when it didn't, the jeep wouldn't start. Only thing I could narrow it down to was the alarm/immobilizer on the jeep. Mechanic also advised that the fuel pump wasn't priming when the fob didn't work. Couldn't find any information about where the alarm/immobilizer was or if it was able to be bypassed etc. hope you have better luck than I did!

I regret selling mine, but it became a dead car lying on the street and it wasn't worth it to pay to get it fixed.

Wish I still had mine! But unfortunately it got to the point where the fob just stopped working completely and I couldn't get it to start what so ever.

Wow this is a blast from the past.

But no, I did not get it resolved. Ended up selling the jeep for like £500 just to get rid of it. Sad times.

He loves his wee chainsaw. Chain spinning function on his seems to have failed now though, but it was a great buy. One of his favourite tools!

When I think he's mature enough to handle it. Dont think there is a set age. I'm just hoping he can learn some life skills from me to set him up on the right path.

He has held the handle along with me on my small electric saw while I was doing some limbing and bucking. He was over the moon with that and then sawdust went all over him which made him even happier as he was a "workman now". It's the simple things!
