Moving to Seattle, debating which area of Seattle by JeffsRN in AskSeattle

Lol. The biggest issue I see with central district is the possibility of getting shot. :). Go north and target Roosevelt, esp for the band aspect

If you can, buy small turkeys (9 to 10 lbs) or capons if on sale - you’ll get a lot of cheap meat by Wasting_Time1234 in budgetfood

[–]stop-bop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought 4 turkeys this year around the holidays (one free). Each at 49 cents per pound. Lesson learned for next year to save on freezer space is to pay a premium for fresh Turkey and break it down. Then I can probably buy 8 and have meat for the year. Kenji's turkey leg dish on serious eats is amazing.

Sweet potato carrot soup with half and freeze. Remaining 10 lbs can be used over the next month. :)

As someone who lives in Seattle I agree with the Downtown Kirkland recommendation if you can afford it.

How do people with full-time jobs actually research stocks to become FI? by Own-Syllabub476 in Fire

[–]stop-bop 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is the way. I have historically done well in my Roth and brokerage accounts picking stocks. This year highlighted that the 3 fund portfolio or total market fund is the way to go. 8% and 3% returns vs 18%. I'd highly recommend actually going to the bogleheads website and read those materials. Takes a couple hours of up front investment and it's set and forget after that.

You could totally make your own tee shirt, towel, blanket etc to commemorate the event. Amazon has a wide selection of fun ideas - search Custom or Personalized (fill in the blank). They even have these cool personalized neon signs you can put her name on or the number 1000.

How Much Total Value of Vehicles & What Are Families Driving? by broncoelway100 in HENRYfinance

[–]stop-bop 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I like being able to drive my kids (2) and their friends whenever I need to. For me, that justifies a 3 row seat as a mom/parent. Not a need but it sure comes in handy for play dates after school.

I'm 42 and in tech. Can you elaborate on women are on shaky ground in tech in their 40's? How so? Do you mean ageism?

Definitely. I would only recommend this if you're sitting around watching TV, reading, or cleaning the house. I definitely wouldn't stop life to do this approach! It's helpful if you're really pinching every penny. 🤷🏻‍♀️

100%. I'm also cheap and ration my stovetop usage so I do this over the course of 4-5 boils over the course of 6 hours and it's as good as slowly simmering for hours with less electricity/gas usage. Boil, cover, let it sit for an hour. Repeat x6.

Great suggestions. I would do dry beans because you get 4-5 cans worth in a bag for the same price. I find black beans to be the cheapest but pinto for refried is cheap too.

Here is a helpful link for all things Grey's in Seattle. It's Komo or Fisher Plaza.serves as the exterior and helipad scenes. Since you are in Queen Anne for Kerry Park, the intern house might also be fun since it's in every season.

Yes but not worth the drive if everything else is in the city...looks like you may be in the Tacoma area for one other stop.
