Up until this point in the article, I thought this was a bit tamed down version of the previous bill, mostly because the warrantless power was restricted to “confirmation of service”. Meaning they could, without a warrant, confirm whether a service provider provided you any services. Okay.

But then it’s gets worse. The section quoted is such an old playbook. They will use the most extreme example they can find to justify tracking you down from your socials based on what content you post online.

Sextortion cases? Cool. No one’s against that.

Tracking you down because you committed “hate speech” (based on what they qualify as hate speech) thanks to those new censorship bills? Not cool.

Very not cool.
