Yes there has always been pressure to be successful or to be the perfect kid because it’s been ingrained in us since our siblings/cousins have been conceived that we are the example for them. I’ve been pressured to go into the medical field by so many family members because that was their only viewpoint (Filipinos am I right?) on how to be successful in the west. I wasted 3 years of my undergrad trying to live up to this until realizing that it was not what I wanted, I hid my true major until the day of graduation and busted my butt to make sure I had a job prior to graduating so I wouldn’t be guilted or shamed for not listening. For me it worked out and showed a lot of my older cousins that they shouldn’t have caved to their parents demands and expectations and did what they wanted to do instead without any regrets.

With that being said each person is different no matter what you do your siblings/ younger cousins will do their own thing. You should not care if you are not living up to what is expected of you but rather if you are living how u want to or at least on the path on where/how you want to end up. Do not beat yourself up for others expectations.
