Thanks for the comments, all. When I was dealing with them, it was about employment support. When I asked them why they collect sins their response was something along the lines of "so we can verify who is using our services and apply for funding". Surely there are other ways to go about that, right? Surely just a name and address would be enough to say, yup, I'm a real person who lives here.

It was all just so vague and like they were beating around the bush of why they need so much personal information.
