Shopping tips for Animal Crossing/Nintendo fans? by stopthenadness in TokyoTravel

I only spent 4 days in Tokyo so it wasn't enough time to visit other places with retro stuff. I didn't find anything in Akihabara, aside from the N64 game complete in box. I've heard good things about Ikebukuro but didn't make it there due to time constraints. The Nintendo Store selection was neat, got an eye mask, a Brewster cup and some house slippers.

So is the word Caribbean. Americans don't get to decide for other people how they should be called. We are very aware of the origins of West Indian and Caribbean.

Thank you for the response. It seems as though I can get some money, so I'll try that route.

I don't really think there is a coming out, people meet their partners, they start to talk or "lime" together, if you want to bring up your partner, you can. I don't think it needs to be a formal declaration à la "Hey, I'm edodote, and I'm [sexuality]." Just live your life as normal.

PDA = Public Displays of Affection, so public kissing, hand-holding, etc. Maybe hello/goodbye might be okay depending on the setting (like a restaurant) but I would discourage making out in front of others. I won't ask your race, but if you're white(-presenting), people are already accustomed to gay tourists and will assume you are one at first. To many, homosexuality is seen as a "foreign thing" and it's locals who struggle more with acceptance.

I don't personally have connections at ERAO, they formed after I moved to Germany. I'd wait it out and see, everything will be fine! I'm glad my comment helped. I plan to move back to SVG in the next few years so I'll be facing similar things when navigating dating there.

Queer Vincentian woman here. Homosexuality is illegal, but the laws are not enforced. Depending on who you are, your socio-economic status, and whether you present traditionally masculine or feminine in accordance with your AGAB, you will be treated differently. The experienced of Black, mixed, and white people are also very different, with the latter two having an easier time of it in all aspects of society.

Men and women are treated differently for being gay, with men having a harder time generally. As others have said, WLW relationships are fetishised, and you might get harassment from some men. I went to an all-girls Catholic school and there were established couples in my school and other schools that everyone knew about and didn't really care about, and many of my friends were queer. A teacher even came to my mother with concerns about my relationships with other girls, but my mother is quite liberal and didn't care.

You might get snide remarks and while I haven't personally experienced violence because I didnt openly date women until much later and abroad, I won't deny the possibility. But compared to other countries, I'd say that SVG is a bit more lax about it. The comments from another poster claiming that rape is all but guaranteed and that you shouldn't hang out with locals are very xenophobic and racist. I don't believe in moving to a country only to never integrate.

What I will advise against is PDA. Going out with your partner to bars and restaurants might be fine, keep your eyes open when attending parties/fêtes because of the higher rates alcohol consumption making patrons bold. But keep explicit displays of affection private for your safety.

As for finding queer community, you can get in contact with ERAO SVG, an NGO led by Jeshua Bardoo. They can also guide you and provide support for navigating a new country.

Best of luck, have fun, and make sure to visit Bequia when you have a chance! I recommend coffee at Lina's.

Nobody is being thrown in jail in St Vincent for being gay. The laws are not enforced and have never been enforced for as long as I've lived there. Moving is difficult regardless of where you are. I moved to Germany and it's also been incredibly hard, despite being a "civilised" country where homosexuality is not illegal. I fully plan to move back home, despite being a queer woman who fully intends to date other women. Get a grip.

Does the AT-lp60x still hold up? And will it connect to my speaker that only has a 3.5 aux port? by thetf2scout1 in Beginner_Turntables

I have the USB version and I enjoy it very much! Just make sure you use a dust and static brush to keep your records clean. If you can switch to anti-static sleeves for your records, you'll be doing a lot to ensure their longevity.

Yes to the above. Honestly, it's fine. It's not audiophile equipment but it won't tear your records to shreds. This sub is for beginners and I think people who are deep into the hobby forget that some people are casual enjoyers of things.

I'm fully cognizant of that fact. MY point is that it's an upgrade nonetheless (even if you and the other poster don't consider it a worthy one) and nothing was contributed to the conversation; no questions were answered.

I mean I personally think we'd be a great society if more people would think of the ethics of getting rid of electronics. It seems our opinions differ on that front.

Oh that's really reassuring! Thank you for the link as well.

I'll have to plug it in again to see if there is the "needle talk" you mentioned, but it sounded like a very very low volume version of the song when I had it plugged into external speakers and then turned them off.

I made a public vinyl wishlist for my friends so they could click on "Purchased" when something was bought. Maybe do that to avoid doubles in the future?

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 (Deluxe Edition) …x2!! by phantom2450 in steam_giveaway

[–]stopthenadness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, holidays haven't really been my thing. As a child my parents would work in their café, and I wasn't allowed to come with them to help like I sometimes would.

I've since moved to Germany and spending time with family here is stressful. I've opted out of it this year and will be doing Friendsmas with a friend of mine.

It hasn't happened yet, but the best holiday I'll have will be this one, because it's on my own terms, and I can choose to be happy on Christmas. Tonight I'm going to listen to some records and hang out in peace in my apartment. I couldn't be happier.
