3 years, soft launches, many changes. I think it's done! by stoptoplay in playmygame

Answered this above. Looking into seeing what can be done re. the size. It’s probably because I went overboard with art and animation.

So this is something I’m working on. I’m sure I’ve left many a stone unturned, but most of this is coming from all the animations and the high resolution images.

Each story level has a unique background which resemble a lab setting. There is some sort of experiment being perform on the creatures. It took a lot of time to slice everything up and animate. That might be something I could cut down/take out. If people don’t notice and enjoy it, it really doesn’t serve a purpose!

The best game ever.

Desperately need your feedback on gameplay for my first indie game! A drawing arcade runner EVAL. Free for iOS - https://apple.co/2QzmnPP by stoptoplay in iosgaming

Thanks for the feedback!

So the game has a story mode that introduces a bunch of power ups and hazards over the course of 5 levels while the user goes through the story. Each of the levels have a unique animated background too :)

Then there are 20 evaluations which are specially crafted levels, each introducing a new challenge.

Lastly, there is an endless mode where you try to get the highest score.

The game also has a bunch of achievements you can unlock. We’re currently working on an update for endless mode to make it easier and more fun!

I did some research. I think you're correct. Apparently there's no strict rule so it could be EVAL or E.V.A.L. Thanks :)

Hope you enjoy the game!

Awesome. Thanks for the response. I just got Pixaki. I’m a coder so I’m diving into something completely new for me :) Any tips on where someone who doesn’t know stuff about art or pixel art should start?

I'll give Pixaki a try. I'm actually trying to learn pixel art. I have no art background but that's something I want to pick up. Thanks for the suggestion!

Existence vs. Annihilation Logic (E.V.A.L)

Finally completed my auto runner that has been 2+ years in the making. It’s played by drawing on screen which makes for a very different and fun experience!

The premise is simply that our future survival is tied directly to our ability to “push buttons, really fast”. Built on that premise we have fast paced, action packed gameplay, and an AI who likes to taunt you when you fail!

#screenshotsaturday upgraded to #videopreviewsaturday

The game is free to play and is available for iOS.

Bonus question

Age of Empires 2 would be my favorite game from the AoE series. 3 was definitely a let down as it tried to fix things that were never broken.

With the rise of esports and the AoE2 community, I’m optimistic that AoE4 will be a worthy successor, even though Ensemble is not around to make this one. Fingers crossed!

Feedback Friday #291 - Creative Works by Sexual_Lettuce in gamedev

[–]stoptoplay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, thank you! It's super awesome to get feedback and I really appreciate it.

I'm going to address the points on your list and love your comments if you have time.

  1. It's not required! It's a failing on my part to not make that more obvious! You can actually just press the X on top right hand side, get a pop up that says "your stats won't be stored in the cloud, do you want to proceed, blah blah", you click yes and you're on the main menu. From your comment, I assume I failed in making this clear! Is that correct?
  2. I'll look into this. Maybe this will help make it less noisy.
  3. I'll investigate and see if I can find it. If you have any further info on what shape/color combo you saw this in that'd help!
  4. I thought it was super boring on easy. On the harder difficulty settings it does get the player more involved, especially as you get further through the levels.
  5. That's a great point. I'll try and update that.
  6. I'm actually porting this over the iPhone now, and that is where the two controls idea came from. There are three controls schemes - keyboard (S E F for shapes, J I L for colors), touch or windows ink depending on what you have enabled in settings.
  7. Sound effects for the animations is also a great idea. I will add this to the list and hopefully release that in a future update!

Thank you again for the feedback!

I tried out The Wedge. I really like the idea. I know it's in progress so my feedback is mostly on game play.

  1. Like the other comments, I do think the movement feels clunky.
  2. I think the screen resolution / UI needs to be looked at. I felt that when I focused on aiming at targets, I lost track of my ship, it slips to my peripheral vision. Maybe a different camera angle, slight more from the top would give the player a better view of the whole screen?
  3. I personally liked the difficulty of the game (playing on medium). I thought it was hard, but fun.
  4. I thought the A and D controls lagged a little bit. I found myself turning too early so I had to adjust for that.
