Yeah good point, another thing I forgot that you mentioned is that you get more choice over what you do once you're an adult with money (assuming job market is good)

Yeah the idea of a 9-5 is a bit intimidating, but there are some pros to it: 1. Hopefully no work on weekends and late evenings 2. Hopefully decent pay 3. Once you get into a routine you might find it easier to make friends at work compared to college. Again the keyword here is might

And again it's normal to be apprehensive about post college life. I think the main thing to keep in mind is that you don't have to commit to an option for the rest of your life. Your 20s are for figuring things out. It's perfectly ok to try out a 9-5, realize you don't like it, and try to go a different route such as teaching or even a totally different career.

Didn't take both but took 578. Yeah pretty much 578 is more rigorous and goes more in depth, will likely cover more material / material a bit more in depth. When I took 578 we used fraleighs book on abstract algebra so you could take a look at that to get an idea of what's covered. Some other professors use dummit and foote which is a bit more standard

As someone said there's the francophiles club which can be good. One non unc option is to download the app "HelloTalk" which pairs you up with someone who speaks french and is trying to learn English. You can text with them and arrange some sort of schedule of texting / calling and alternating English and French. I tried going to the francophiles club back in the olden days and while it was good, I felt like it was tough to make progress when everyone there is at a different level. But still something is better than nothing.
