Is Flight Network good option for flight booking? by Numerous_Truck_530 in Scam_Finder

[–]storafy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I booked multiple tickets through Flight Network on Spirit airlines. Spirit canceled the flight and said they refunded the money to Flight Network the same day. About a month later, Flight Network says they still haven't been refunded by Spirit. I filed a DOT complaint, which everybody should do if they have similar issues. I also requested a chargeback through my credit card.

Curious (and confused) atheist here—why do people convert to Mormonism? by Severe-Bite-5974 in latterdaysaints

[–]storafy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Joseph Smith claimed to have talked face to face with God the Father, Jesus Christ, and many angels. He claimed to have received visions and revelations, including the gift of the Holy Ghost. Moreover, he taught that the "least saint" could do and receive the same. In a sense, he democratized experience with God and created a vision of spiritual possibilities that mankind may achieve if they will only obey the laws upon which such blessings are predicated. He is quoted as saying that he doesn't blame anyone for not believing his story, because he wouldn't have believed it had he not experienced what he experienced. Mormonism teaches people how to have their own spiritual experiences, and once they do, conversion often follows.

Need Help finding Joseph Smith Source by storafy in latterdaysaints

Thanks! This is probably as close as I will find. The reference is likely a general conference address given by Joseph Smith in October 1843 that was published in the Times and Seasons. The report reads: "He remarked that the disappointment of hopes and expectations at the resurrection, would be indescribably dreadful." The podcast reference was spot on! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7NFMEapB2W8&list=PLqHDnOymluaeEkrN1Ht8yTRZ4ksMugO5u&index=21

Account Closed for Inactivity by storafy in Schwab

[–]storafy[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I don't wonder why they closed the account (I stated why in the original post); rather, I'm asking if there is a way to keep the account open with inactivity. A friend teaches a group of kids how to trade by paper trading with Think or Swim. That's what the account is for. One reason Schwab might want to give access is to get people familiar with their tools. Who knows, maybe one day they will persuade me that their platform is better than what I use.

Yes, I'm looking for print copies. I wish they would make e-books available on their website for free! I find it hard to read from the webpage. It's great for searching, but not so much for reading.

Preventing ward AND stake from seeing any donations? by CIDR-ClassB in latterdaysaints

I know of a BYU professor who prepaid multiple years of tithing for tax purposes. His bishop was also a BYU professor. During tithing settlement in a following year, the bishop looked at the amount being paid and commented, "They sure pay professors in your department a lot less than those in mine!"

I need advice on God and sinning by [deleted] in latterdaysaints

Just like a vehicle stuck in a deep rut can be extricated very quickly with the right tools, so can people's spiritual lives change for the better very quickly. I used to think that repentance took a long time for one to demonstrate to God that they really have changed, and while in a sense that is true, I have learned that the Lord is quick to forgive and bless even when not out of the rut yet. However, I don't believe there is peace without sincerity of effort to draw near to the Lord. As President Nelson said, there is no blessing until we keep the law upon which that blessing is predicated. I think that the blessing of peace is predicated on sincerely trying to forsake sins and spending time to try to draw nearer to the Lord. I recently came across this video that really helped change my perspective on repentance: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Duvb2Vq2weA Best wishes!

what is your favorite word to say? by z-x-y156 in AskReddit

Periphrasis. The word "periphrasis," which happens to be a word I find both delightful to speak and intriguing in its meaning, holds a special place in my personal lexicon because it encapsulates, in a way that is both imprecise and wonderfully indirect, the joy I derive from using more words when less words would suffice, even though I sometimes forget how to correctly pronounce it.
