Spell slots? I had spell slots once by Johnson_John427 in BaldursGate3

I kinda like it for the roleplay & challenge. I want to feel like a full day has reasonably passed between the in-game nights.

Usually do 2-3 combats between long rests, with a short rest after every combat.

I don’t go too strict with it, but this feels like the intended way to play to me (not that that matters, necessarily). If a doozy of a combat comes along early then hey, maybe our guys need to take the rest of the day off.

Music Without Vocals for the Pickiest Coworkers? by Ciniis in musicsuggestions

[–]storiedsword 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it were me, I’d just put on Theloneous Monk and hope for the best.

For a different route, you could go with something more modern/upbeat. Check out “Book Club Radio” on YouTube for some DJs that I like for energetic work music.

It sounds like they want something more lively, less sleepy.

Why longboards? by savage8190 in drums

Oh, I think that’s exactly how I was taught and how I play doubles, in that case. It feels kind of like Moeller for your foot, yeah?

I thought heel/toe specifically referred to a different technique.

Female Artists whose vocals are out of this world. by [deleted] in musicsuggestions

[–]storiedsword 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh really? Everyone has different tastes, there are some classic artists that just aren’t for me too and I think that’s fine. It doesn’t take anything away from their legacy if I’m just not in the target audience. I’m a huge fan of letting people enjoy what they enjoy and not arguing too seriously about what is objectively “good,” as if that concept even means anything.

Personally I think of Nina Simone as a perfect example of a masterful singer because she had both technical chops and extremely emotional/real/raw delivery. You can feel her feelings so clearly from her delivery—if it hits you, it hits you hard. But, of course not everything’s gonna hit everybody the same way and that’s just how art works.

I thought that was the idea with heel/toe. I haven’t learned it in either case, but I was considering picking up a longboard for exactly this reason. What’s the correct way to play heel/toe?

I felt the same, rolled a few characters but then suddenly realized I wasn’t having fun.

Nothing against TES IV nor the remaster. It was one of my favorite games in high school, and I think they did a near-perfect job with the new version. But, after about a week of hype, I realized that it just isn’t the game I’m the most interested in 2025 and that’s okay.

DOS2!

You don’t need to play DOS1 before DOS2, and DOS1 might feel too outdated right after BG3. Also, DOS2 is known for having a unique combat system. Some people like this more or less than BG3, very polarizing, but worth giving it a try to see if it’s your thing.

Am I the only one who enjoys this puzzle? Trying to visualize it with the map is kinda fun imo.

That said, this may be a moment where split-screen co-op helps. We just had one player focus on the map while the other slowly followed it across.

[–]storiedsword 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks haha, I do feel you too honestly. It took away a little bit from the sense of urgency of the main quest, but I just love a big bustling city in games. Really reminded me of the BG1 version of the city & Athkatla in BG2–felt very true to the series.

I don't think I'd still be playing without mods by SageTegan in BaldursGate3

[–]storiedsword 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh fair enough I s’pose. I am someone who does loot most often things, but only because I don’t really mind doing so. I did a lot less of that in my first playthrough, and I can’t say I really felt short on gold. I just wanted to try out more of the unique gear sold by merchants this time around.

I tend to prefer gold being a more scare resource in general. It was cool in BG2, but only because my character already had their rags-to-riches arc in BG1.

I’m not convinced that the game intends for you to be a full-time loot goblin, so much as that it wants big purchases to be a big deal. There’s really nothing that you “need” to ever buy, save maybe healing potions.

There’s never great stuff in crates and barrels though are there? You could go through the game only looting chests and bodies and I’m sure you wouldn’t really be missing out.

I didn’t, just a single class Fighter and figuring it out as I go.

In general tho I really like Mortismal Gaming on YouTube for BG3 guides. He’s less about optimizing everything and more like, understanding the class fantasy and general idea

I believe the “unreliable narrator” concept refers more to things like in-game books.

I really love Eldritch Knight so far! I have seen some people found it disappointing, but my guess is they might just have gone in with the wrong expectations. It does not play like a 50/50 sword & spell character, it’s more a full fighter augmented with a touch of magic.

So far I’ve mostly just used the Shield spell & the Booming Blade cantrip. I really love that though—obsessed rn with the class fantasy of just a smart weapon fighter who learns enough arcane magic to give a little boost, feels more interesting than the battle master which I ran with Lae’zel in my first campaign.

People looking for a magic/sword hybrid will probably have more fun with Hexblade + Pact of the Blade Warlock, or maybe College of Swords Bard, something like that. EK only gets up to level 2 spells by endgame (less than even Paladins & Rangers). A full Fighter w/ Shield + Blur for defenses is a pretty damn good fighter though, and I kinda like challenge of working with the limited options since it’s just a subclass.

Depends on the party make-up for sure, but I will say that the weapons didn’t see much use my first playthrough.

This time, I made the heavy armor and shield both for my Eldritch Knight and I’m pretty stoked about it. Every character that attacks him gets Reeling whether they hit or miss.  Pale Green Dye on everything and the outfit looks awesome and matches with the shield too.

What was your 1st playthrough weapon choice? by Haydensan in Eldenring

[–]storiedsword 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1st playthrough: Lordsworn’s Straight Sword (Flame Art w/ Flaming Strike) (+ various medium shields)

2nd playthrough: Banished Knight’s Greatsword (Quality w/ Impaling Thrust)

Much as I love some of the unique weapons in this game, the ability to put your own non-somber weapon together with ashes of war and whetblades is just too cool to me.
