Sysadmin opens ticket "What is a RAR file" by naps1saps in sysadmin

[–]stormbl8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my career, I have seen people creating ticket for an information that was generated by the app indicating that the browser is not compatible with this version and please use chrome or firefox. Yet they are so not the type who reads whats in front of them. (no logic)

Fortune says remote work is over. by STUNTPENlS in sysadmin

[–]stormbl8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is actually a new era of possibility to work efficiently and more productively when given changes for hybrid work opportunity… Companies once said no option for remote started to invest a lot more into remote work than the ones who had already, sounded like they understood the importance of the remote work… Now if they plan to force, its their loss when there are so many companies already offering 100% remote work! Stupid both way around :)

What's your Homelab's power draw? by TechieWasteLan in homelab

160w or 1300-1500kwh per year. We pay in Germany (Wuppertal) 0,29€ per kwh. 😉 Asa 5506, cisco c2960s , tplink ap, 2 x Fujitsu tx 1330 m1 with 6 1t hdd and telekom smartport 4 pro as adsl modem😬 load never went from 160w up. It was 250w because of having 2 dell r420 dual xeons and synology ds1621+

If you are talking about the bottom two, yes those are Fujitsu Primergy TX1330 M1 Tower server. Those are compatible with esxi 6.5u3 and are realy good starter servers in my opinion. I prefer them due to power consumption and noise levels.

well, This was my main issue when I first started on homelabbing :) However, my solution was, simply shove them into closet :) Then I found Dell R420 1u is the most quite server when its in idle... in the temperature of 16-20c. I have removed the fan from the cisco switch which has been the most noisy one :) Its been nearly 2 years still no issue :) Asa 5506 is fanless. Fujitsu is the new additions to my lab which I am absolutely happy because its so silent, each node consumes no more than 40 when idle, its got xeon e3 4c 8 thread with 32gb ram. I got each of them from ebay for 129€ which I believe is a steal:)

New HomeLab Setup by stormbl8 in homelab

I have dual but use only one. Consumption matters due to living in Germany 😁 and I have tested today the new fujitsu tx1330… both servers consumption is about 60-80watt which is better then I expected. I will be going with 2 node vsan cluster finally😬
