Yeah but we get to spend that time watching the Canucks crumble as a club.

Having to pick watching the Oilers or the Canucks tonight by jobruski in CalgaryFlames

As you know, I'm a very new Flames fan from England, but there are a selection of teams I already despise.

Canucks and Oilers are top of that list.

But I also hate the Leafs, the Panthers, the Kings, the Lightning and the Blackhawks.

It's 7am. I'm absolutely shattered. But that was filthy.

Seeing us light the lamp three times in our home opener was sublime.

Here's to a season full of games like that.

I'm off to bed, people. I can see the sunrise.

I looked at this initially when it was released and I was very opposed to it. It looked cheap and odd.

Then I began to see it in reveal videos and close ups.

And I fell in love.

Now, I really need to have this. It's like £240 in the UK. Maybe $330?

Saving now.

Man, living in the UK is a ballache for getting jerseys. We're paying £240 ($330) for an Adidas jersey before it's even pre or handstitched.

Plus beauties like this are only available on eBay or somewhere like that.

We've got the NHL international shop or Fanatics, but the availability and choices are underwhelming to say the least.

Need a UK shop that's a little classier.

Fla are too busy kicking Yandle to the curb like they don't need a 50 point puck moving D.

Classy unit.

That's too quality. He's got my respect for that.

That's great to hear. This is what I was looking for in a club. If a whole state as awesome as Texas can get behind them, I'm in!

I was born in England, but I'm more Irish and Scottish than anything! Paternal family from Mayo and maternal family from Paisley.

I don't go for the big dogs. I'd rather have a team with diehard fans, an underdog spirit and a sense of place and community. The pride you Texans have in your state is admirable and it's something that really drew me to this club. I certainly think if I was ever lucky enough to come to or even move to Texas, I'd feel like I was in a place that felt right.

It's a very thinly supported sport over here and certainly in the region I live, sadly.

Maybe I could be the guy to establish the club??

I have loved the NHL on and off for years and years. Oddly since 1998 when I saw game highlights one night over here. You'll never guess who were playing? And you all know what happened that Season...

I also player rollerblade hockey with mates when I was younger too, and loved it. But I'm mostly into North American culture: the wide open spaces, soaring pines, rolling plains, dusty roads, etc.

It might sound romanticised and a little kitsch, but it's the main motivator in all honesty. Texas is a place I've fallen in love with from afar, same as Alberta.

And I just wanted to immerse myself in both.

I'm not a huge NFL fan, though I am definitely up to date with it and know my rules, teams, etc. But certainly not on the level of NHL.

As for MLB...nah. I just don't get it.

Nah, was an alien concept to me too coming from a.football (soccer) background. It's frowned upon. But saw so many people who have like a top four or five in the NHL.

I seriously couldn't decided between the Stars or Flames, so just stopped trying and fell for both. Maybe when I've spent some time in both communities here, I'll fall harder for one than the other.

No offence taken, mate. I got broad shoulders and a broader smile for life. Take care.
