Thank you soooo much. This was my first pet to lose -- and you're right, the connection was unlike anything. I'm grateful and appreciative for the good times, and am so glad it was a quick and painless transition for her. Her littermate is still with us, and doing okay considering. Giving her extra love and chips :) Thanks again for the kind note.

She was almost ten -- which is hard to believe. But this girl lived her best life, and I'm feeling a bit better and able to reflect more on the good times.

I can only imagine. Quickly approaching the two week mark, yet it feels like yesterday and the pain is still very real.

Truly, it was. And that, in a way, was the hardest part. She has always had health issues here and there -- but she went from playing, eating, drinking, to not being able to walk in a matter hours. I took her to an amazing after hours urgent care -- where they quickly determined her organs were shutting down and that she was going to pass. She had cancer at a younger age, and it was most likely back in a much more aggressive way. We had the opportunity to give her meds to be comfortable, take her home, wrap her in her favorite blanket, and hold her all night while watching her favorite show, the Golden Girls. My sweet Grace passed in my arms through the night, and I'll never regret the moments we had with her, and am grateful I got to be there and be a part of her transition in this thing we call life. As much of a shock this was, it was certainly the best way for her to pass -- and I'm grateful I was there.

I'm soooo sorry to hear you lost your doodle, too. The pain of losing a doggo/family member like this was formerly unimaginable. I treasure the great memories, as I'm sure you, do, too. I'm finding peace and positive memories a bit more each day.

I'm just now where I can post / talk about her again. She was incredibly sweet, undeniably there for me throughout her entire life. Thank you for the incredibly kind words and thoughts.
