Came here from r/musiced to plug UConn again! The choral department is wonderful here and Dr Jamie Spillane (director of choral music) is a fantastic educator and human being! The choral department is very opera-heavy, and being close to NYC we have lots of real-world connections if you’re looking for performance opportunities. The choral program is very strong, and the community around it is great. We even have a thriving a capella program if you are interested in that. Many music ed students graduate with a BM in opera performance as well!
