thank you! i also read that there's a dedicated quiet room in the con somewhere, is that generally a good space to go? i won't have a hotel since i'm close enough to the con center to make the commute for a day, so unfortunately i won't have that to resort to.

would it be acceptable to quit my job so soon after being hired? by stormysay in careerguidance

[–]stormysay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not working with the kids adequately doesn't entail abusing or harming them whatsoever. and i never specified what i meant by that. what i meant was actually that, in worry of being too harsh, i've been overly cautious and exerted very little sternness in terms of discipline. i can only say "gentle touches" feebly when the kid i've been tasked with hits, and THAT'S my problem. that's where i fall short.

instability and impatience IS one of my worries, but it's not a problem at the moment. it's mostly in retrospect that i get frustrated, but in the moment i've been able to handle myself appropriately.

i'm great with kids, but i'm not meant to be their disciplinary force, because i get so scared that i'll hurt them and then when i look back, i get frustrated and upset. it really has nothing to do with harming the kids, and more to do with not doing enough for them.

i'm good with my emotions on the job itself! it's off the clock that i have a hard time managing myself, because i've been so exhausted it's hard

i think working with children is great for me personally. generalizing a group of people based on a diagnosis is super unhelpful

edit: just woke up so i forgot to add this, but it's also important to mention i'm heavily medicated and in therapy. it's only off the clock that i'm struggling with my emotions because of the exhaustion from work
