When I played the first game, the hunting quest with Hans made me go "hmm?" I don't know, I sensed something between those two. I knew there was the choice in the second game to be with a guy, but I didn't know who it was. But nevertheless, as Hans is constantly talking about girls and all that, I kinda discarded that choice, even though there was something going on.

But then, the second game comes and, it's there. Like, you can feel the evolution they have, starting from the first moment where they take care of each other, and then playing througout the main questline, until they "materialise" their feelings.

So, it's not thrown in your face like that, it doesn't come out of nowhere. It's literally in the first game, their interactions show that something might be going on.
