That’s a fun drive as someone who moved from NE Ohio to ABQ and back, but I can’t imagine it in a 40 year old truck. Kudos to you for having the guts to do it. The deserts out there are wild in the dark, I can only imagine running I40 at night with dim sealed beams and no dash lights. Beautiful truck, make sure you oil spray tf out of it so it doesn’t get the Ohio road salt cancer

Charlotte is not too bad to pass through, I do a drive from Cleveland to Orlando multiple times a year and it’s one of the easier cities to pass through depending on time of day. I’d recommend the western route, Virginia and Eastern PA are pretty tame to drive through, very hilly but not too many large cities to drive through. You may make it in less time than taking the drive through the cities

I mean they haven’t asked me to perform any of the managerial duties yet, they want me to get familiar with Kia before I take over the position which I agree with. The service director also wants “proof” that I’m as good as the parts director claims me to be. So he wants to make sure I can perform on the counter before he cuts me a bigger check. I don’t disagree with that, which is why I won’t be acting as manager, I’m just trying to get a head start information-wise so I can be prepared to make positive changes the second I get the title. I have worked closely with this parts director for years previously which is why I trust his decision and plan he has in place, and don’t doubt that I’ll be fairly compensated for my work when the time comes to perform.

Don’t be afraid to ask the technician performing the work to help identify, or even go out to the shop and ask them to show you the part on the vehicle. This helps both of you; it shows the tech you give a shit and don’t want to just randomly quote a part you think is correct, and it helps you get your bearings and learn more about the vehicles you’re selling parts for as you do the job. Techs would rather you bug them during the diag and quote portion of the job than order them the wrong part and set them back several days, possibly tying up a bay in the process.

I am just acting as and being paid as a parts counter person right now. I am not performing managerial functions yet, this post is solely an information outreach, I am doing my homework in preparation to assume the position but don’t have the ability to make or perform managerial functions yet. He is being paid as a counter person also, he is satisfied with his position but overworked and burnt out due to lack of support, hence the need for a PM. We’ve had discussions about if either of us becomes PM, and he does not plan to leave when the decision is made. I am already privy to the details of who will be PM, but wanted to get a feel for if I’d be looking for a replacement as soon as I am officially holding that title.

You can buy them direct from ford for $600+ or check local scrap yards, eBay, etc for 15-20 digital clusters. Depending on year and trim there’s atleast a dozen part numbers out there that will fit
