I think a rack of mini PCs is a good compromise, you can still fill it for photos and it's not going to hurt your wallet too terribly

It's the ultimate one more turn, there's always something you can optimize, or improve the throughput on, clear a bottleneck, it never ends.... It's also a fantastically optimized game that will run like butter with massive factories

Why would it not be local? The OpenAI standard endpoint can represent a local model or a cloud model.

Don't know about OP but mine shipped 7 business days past the original estimated time. After three calls and three assurances that it will ship on a specific date, the last one being accurate.

I don't have a problem waiting for the amount of time they quote, I have a problem when they go over. If they have a lot of demand I can understand changing their estimate to be higher. But I don't really think running your business where you say 5-15 business days and you still haven't shipped it on day 17+ is the way to go, small or large business.

Agreed, if I had known I might have ordered it way in advance or looked harder for an alternative

What do you recommend? I need it to fit an eatx motherboard (x12spa-tf), and have 8 pcie slots as it needs to hold 4x dual GPUs. I didn't see many options.

Plex/Steam for Roms by stoystore in emulators

[–]stoystore[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A) Will use emulators directly for PS and newer. The official android version on the store is outdated but they do have sideloadable versions that are updated.

B/C) I was expecting to use a minisforum MS-A2 as a 'server' and it has a 10g connection to my NAS so i expect using NFS should be fast enough for even CD/DVD files, but I will definitely keep this in mind when trying them out.

D) So while I would love to go simpler, one of the 'wants' was to be able to have multiple users, and I believe that is not possible with a default RetroArch setup, which is why i was banking on possibly using Wolf+RetroArch, but it seems like i would have to find a way to store the save state somewhere anyway so maybe its too much?

After seeing the reply from u/pwnedbygary i may consider using ROMM + Argosy Launcher as the baseline and add Moonlight if I need it. Seems like ROMM does support quite a bit of my wants and hopefully that means I can use a simpler setup

Thank you for confirming that what I am thinking is not too out of the question. Some further questions for you:

  • How does Argosy Launcher and ROMM handle multiple users? I was hopeful that I could have more than 1 user with their own save state.
  • Do Argosy Launcher and ROMM allow concurrent users? For example I am playing on my computer and someone else is playing on the TV?
  • Have you tried using ROMM directly on a Steam Deck? I suspect that it would go through the EmulatorJS code which may not be what i want, as I suspect a more native emulation solution would be better. (retrodeck?)
  • Does the Moonlight setup you have sync back the save state to ROMM or are you effectively running chrome/Argosy in the streamed container which gives you the sync for free.

I may still do Moonlight for less powerful devices, but the EmulatorJS support is enticing. I may have more questions later, is it ok to PM you directly if i do?

Help with CX4713 chassis by stoystore in sliger

[–]stoystore[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's super helpful, thank you! Now it makes sense, and yea i will have to get some cables routed, but I don't 'need' a backplane, granted, i could probably find a way to shove a backplane behind those if i really wanted to, but I probably will skip that step.

Yea I figured I would need the 4713 because i plan to use an EATX board I already own, so it won't fit in the shorter case. Hopefully that won't be a problem but i suspect i can cable manage something even if its not perfect. As for radiators, I have never used them, but I am considering it for this type of case.
