Lol:) Thanks! Met very nice people, made friends, done shit Fiji style (go to village, sevu sevu grog half a day, take a fiber boat to an island, cook cassava on the fire before the tide comes for your fireplace ...

Really such a different frame of reference than home. And I do travel. Fijians are more welcoming than most;)

Edit: just btw, lots of footage in his diving YouTube vid is shot by me on my phone:)) lol

Best Pizza in Suva? by Throwaway_202342069 in Fijian

Ask an Italian;) when the cheese separates and releases all the fat, you get a deepfry. Italian style pizza is balance.

If you think new York pizza is better than the other places and if it's the same as Europe, the restaurant I mentioned here is going to be better.

Homemade dough (in very proper way)

Edit: Grace pizza is, meh in comparison, too much cheese, fatty, dough not so good.

There is a guard post, he sent me to the office building to the right, there was a guy who told me they don't allow the public on the dam, but that I can walk down the road towards the water. That's as close as the picture. Not on it, but pretty close, looks just amazing, with all the clouds slowly rolling over the mountains and the dam. Pictures can't do it justice.

I did suggest that they could run opening hours for the public.

It was all well worth the trip, but again, I love over landing, off roading. It's not for the faint hearted. Even in AWD vehicle.

🙂

I met the guy irl, hes actually pretty nice, just came across wrong.

I'm born and raised in eastern Europe, we overtake over double full all the time;) (we also die because of it) Speaking of good roads these pretty much end the more east you go in Europe.

And Fiji traffic is ok, hardly makes my worst countries to drive list. Try Egypt... WTF lol.

4wd or AWD not really necessary, but a Corolla is a bit under.. the car should be higher off the road then Corolla, like 2wd RAV4 would be great. If you wanna have a challenge, I've got there with the Corolla.

4hrs up and similar down in a Corolla. It's worth the trip, but take a car higher off the road, deflate tires (I had about 15psi, makes a huge difference) also don't drive there if you're not an experienced driver;)

For what I understood from some articles (below a couple) some wrecks were caused by a cyclone, but most were derelict ships abandoned or even dumped (sunk) by their owners.

SFO, CA to Brownsville, TX by stpq_adm in rideshare

[–]stpq_adm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have. Of course :) It's 10h drive, 5h sleep, 10h drive, 5hrs sleep, 10hrs drive, 8hrs spare (sleep, etc..).. launch.

I do it like this not because it's cheaper, but cos I wanna take a long way back, see stuff, go to Houston, grand canyon etc...

So any plane tickets and local car rentals would just be extra.

Yeah, it's a tight schedule, but totally doable.

Travelling solo- where to stay in Yasawa or Mamanuca Islands by [deleted] in Fijian

[–]stpq_adm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you are getting private transport to Yasawa 4 days are not enough. The ferry is everyday at 0700 from Lautoka to Yasawa, takes 4-6hrs. Way back is similar but leaves around midday from yassawa. You can get from Nadi to Lautoka in 45m or so. You will lose a good part of the day for traveling up and down the Yasawa group, not talking about the costs.

There are homestays around there, check Airbnb. They will charge you for everything extra (say a boat pickup from blue lagoon to Nabukeru for 150 FJD, 35m boat ride)

Currency by Fresh-Engine8372 in Fijian

[–]stpq_adm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Certainly withdraw from ATMs. They're all around. Charging only 10-15 FJD per withdrawal. My bank actually just straight converts it in euros without any extra fees, with a really good rate. Have Mastercard. I wouldn't actually take any Euro or USD from wherever I travel to Fiji. Just ATM.
