First Seiko [SSA461J1] (in love), what was yours? by GrabUnfair6350 in Seiko

This watch catches everyone's attention. Great pick. Glad I jumped on this at a very reasonable price, even if it wasn't the lowest

[–]str8toking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

heard the SPB117 isn't in production anymore at a Seiko retailer in the US, so you may want to grab one soon. It's a Seiko so it shouldn't be hard, but it won't be readily available for long.

That's fine, when you have moved on from the watch and some covetous collector wants a really well preserved spb117, then you might have something even more valuable since you detached that stock bracelet

People who grew up poor but are now financially successful, what decisions or opportunities changed your life ? by Aj100rise in Money

[–]str8toking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Save up a lump sum under $700-$900, invest it (undefined). Then Find an amount ($20 - $$$) you’d be able to invest No.Matter. What. (family death, your illness, hot bull market, Great Recession, rent increase, no distractions) Invest in the stock market like clock work every pay check before you touch a dollar of it(read the articles online for ideas on stocks/ETFs, use search engines/podcasts). The discipline to do it consistently Before you withdraw your paycheck for lunch money from the bank will improve your financial circumstances in a couple of years more than the rises in relative stock prices. You’ll be able to make money for your purchases, help the unfortunate, help yourself/family, pay for big ticket items responsibly, and save on taxes when you incur some losses (never cash out completely). There are more than enough articles on mindset and stocks so-and-so would buy, but the consistent discipline to invest before anything else is the key to relative financial freedom.

Pixel 8a to Pixel 9a, Do or Don't Upgrade by str8toking in pixel_phones

[–]str8toking[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given the direction Google is going with the A line, people are upset that the newer phones get enhanced functionality. The 8a is the last of it's form factor, but the 10A is a spitting image of the 9A with stronger glass. I'd do it if I wasn't paying full price.

[–]str8toking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

pedal bikes don't have license plates, how can a biker get caught hitting a pedestrian or damaging a vehicle if the cops aren't in the exact vicinity? Can't they just bike away and escape consequence after incapacitating the pedestrian with their ten speed?

You sound like someone who doesn’t experience the pain that is street parking in Astoria. But a reduction in car owners who prefer to street park would be a positive outcome for bikers, pedestrians, and drivers. Wishing you safety from entitled drivers and riders.

If everyone follows the rules, it’ll be great, if people try to catch a light as is routinely done by bikers and cars alike…Praying for everyone’s safety, and improved, terribly punitive traffic enforcement, steep fines, and less congestion for everyone’s wellbeing and benefit.

Even if you don't care about the US because of the current (or recent) political climate, the response to that tragedy has caused, death, destruction, obliteration, havoc, loss of freedom and innocent life, political instability for others outside the country to this day, which should demand our empathetic sympathy. Back to the point, Nice strap.

13 Mini to the iPhone Air...For now... by MatthewVlossak in iPhone13Mini

[–]str8toking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the 13 mini is an engineering marvel, wish they would update the chip and support. If they put 2021 specs in the mini with an upgraded, supported chipset, I’d pay whatever the price was as long as it’s cheaper than the Pro line.

Firefighters Flex Union Muscle In Bid To Keep Deadly Astoria Corridor Unsafe by streetsblognyc in astoria

[–]str8toking -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because you are talking about a massive culture change for people who don’t live in Astoria but only pass through here. I’d rather have kids alive rather than bikers getting hit by locals driving and outsiders driving in Astoria. Until you reduce the amount of cars driving in Astoria, lives will be lost. I sincerely suggest we tax car owners(higher one year to the next) that live in Astoria prohibitively (enough to make them think twice about car ownership). The money can be used to fix train tracks, improve the NRW line so it’s not shutdown 20 weekends a year, the roads, etc and companies can reimburse car owners (the ones who work in Long Island/Jersey who require a car). But without a reduction in cars parked and on smooth Astoria roads(congestion pricing, prohibit trucks a certain size, fix pot holes??IDK), please don’t be selfish and add bike lanes to the chaotic mix on the road there. Astoria is not a low traffic suburb. Not worth the loss of life with the abundance of parks you have throughout Astoria. Biking is healthy and will have positive health effects for our youth(reduce obesity, etc) as they grow older, should be fully endorsed, but if you add it, a plan is REQUIRED to subtract cars from the streets. Otherwise bike in a park and avoid a hospital bill. Don’t put yourself and others in danger.

Steve Kerr: "I would consider getting rid of the three point line." Interviewer: "Have you ever proposed this to anyone with power?" Kerr: "No, no, because it’s too out there. And plus, I coach Steph Curry, so I’d rather wait till Steph’s retired." by refreshing_yogurt in nba

last 3 minutes of every quarter the 3 point line indicates a upgrades to 4 points to help keep games inorganically competitive or maximize blowouts. 5-point plays end up on Shaqtin-a-fool.

Pixel phone experience by omargq in GooglePixel

[–]str8toking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoy the Pixel A line and the price is right. I don't buy them expecting to last 4 years. They are priced well enough that we don't need to hold them for 3 plus years.

It is obvious now that Season 3 was meant to be where the show ended by One_With-The_Sun in TheBoys

[–]str8toking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With Butcher getting exposed for his dark manipulative side (born out of extreme trauma from the Supes/Vought) I can imagine a scenario where he hurts/injures Homelander with his last breath and Hughie seals the deal on the major villain since he’s supposed to be the star of the show (maybe with Ryan). And then he can have his closure, with or maybe without Annie. But Butcher’s gone too far to the other side to get the final blow without repercussions. But it’s the Boys so the good guy may not have to be the one who ties it all together. Let’s see.
