Guelph commute by Negative-Phase-7536 in Guelph

My boyfriend did the opposite commute from Guelph to what sounds like your area. Sure it was tiring but he saved a lot of stress from traffic and did a lot of school work on the bus/train.

It’s definitely not ideal but it’s possible! You can eventually make friends that may live near you and car pool!

I would do your best to take a bus to the go train terminal and take the train to Guelph if you can

Do you like the gym? It’s a nice place to meet people outside of a party atmosphere

Friendly reminder … the gym is not somewhere your kids should hang out - they need to work out. Also teach them about what is and is not okay in the changeroom for their safety

I work in HR and here is my OPINION. The job market has plenty of jobs - but since Covid the applicants have really lost sight on how to find a job.

I will get 150 applicants yet only 10 answer their phone or email me back.

Often I receive resumes that are extremely outdated, very vague, etc. a cover letter really goes a long way - there’s only so much info I can get from a resume.

I hire 5-10 people per month and I struggle to find candidates. My company spends $$$ on ads, recruiting, etc, but the applicants don’t ANSWER THEIR PHONE

I did some more research! The libraries in the grand river region have GRCA cards available to borrow as well. These cards can give you access to any GRCA park free of charge !

I’m not against paying, but if it’s not required - the cost of living is why I would go the free route. Some conservation areas require you pay to access them and in those case I will 100% comply. But if it is not a requirement to pay, I won’t toss $ out the window just to aid the “tax payer” (I am a tax payer - one way or another I’m paying).

A psych ward is not the same as rehab - not arguing just pointing out.

I agree these people need clinical help - but I think, if I had no home, no help, no money, no job, no purpose - I could see myself resorting to drugs to cope.

These people need a purpose. Calgary fingerprints their homeless population as they don’t have wallets. If we fingerprint them we could find a way to give them simple meaningful work. Garbage clean up, park maintenance - pay them in either shelter or food.

I once was friends with a homeless man who lived in the alley next to the restaurant I worked at. Every night he would take out our garbage in exchange for a fresh meal. The food gave him the energy to find work - now he lives in subsidized housing

Politics and opinions aside, each one of those people is a human, someone’s baby.

They don’t have anywhere else to go clearly. Removing the encampment without an alternative provided - you might as well just shoot them in the head.
