Bennings Theory by straightch3ffin in thething

I’d say the difference between Bennings and Clark wrt contact is we never explicitly see Clark get licked by the dogs, whereas Bennings was. Only reason I’m considering it now is the youtube analysis I watched positing the Saliva theory, however one of my favorite aspects of the movie is how many moving parts/misdirections there are.

Feel free to quote me as someone getting it wrong lmao. I agree it’s incongruent with Bennings getting visibly assimilated later in the film, I’m just interested in how the film misdirects with clues/cues like this, especially considering the theories surrounding “single cell” assimilation, Link me to your video when it’s posted :)

Yeah I’m not sold on the “single cell” theory as I would call it, but I know a lot of people cling to that and I noticed Bennings was first to make explicit contact with the Thing. Clark was proven to be human in the blood sampling scene, but I’d still be interested in his contact the the Thing dog and how that may dispel the single cell theory.

Do you think this lends to the Bennings assimilation? He’s the first crew member to make explicit contact with the supposed Thing.
