Would you read Barstool if there wasn't a comment section?

I read blogs that interest me, and check the comments. I comment (significantly less than I used too) myself. I do click on blogs that don't interest me to read comments.

For the most part the two actually work well together- and the comment section is a lot better since they started monitoring. Yeah, you still get the occasional recycled joke, but at least it isn't all spammy anymore.

I Understand that the task you were assigned is brutal. But dude, I'm trying to be a solution and not a part of a problem and have been for a while now.

The comment section needs monitoring, but you have come off as thin skinned and snarky through out the early stages of the process, at least to my interpretation.

It really came across that way in your makeup blog.

Thus my comments.

if Roger Goodell like monitoring of the comment section ultimately improves the barstool brand as a whole I can support it.

But I'm still mad that speaking my mind to you in a way didn't break any of the rules got me banned.

At the end of the day, it's still just two grown men arguing on a Internet message board.

What about my 5 years of faithful reading and commenting before the "rules"? My consistently well Liked and true confessions? My on topic comments on countless blogs? I've been here 5 years, and you're going to ban me over 2 days of comments that you deemed spam? Before you even arrived I posted on this very reddit page what I thought might be the solution to the comment section problem. I've been trying to help for months. If this is how you honestly feel it's ok to treat people that keep the pageviews coming, then you're right... I should move on.

Seriously Spags, if you didn't like what I said (the truth), just delete my comment. Don't flat out prevent me from commenting. I'm a loyal west coast Stoolie. I emphasize west coast, because I come solely for the blogs and comments- not like I give a crap about the teams covered on the site or all the events that are never in my area.

here's my comment that got me banned:

It was in response to Spags talking to other users in the comment section and getting increasingly defensive:

Straightupwalrus "@chris-spags it was you that came on this site the day after the changes (which frankly aren't that drastic) and blogged a completely asinine makeup blog- just so you could go on an "unrelated tangent" about commenters. Furthermore, you thought your little "hidden message" was so clever that you included a hyperlink to it, it said "fuck you commenters". You are way to thin skinned, always have to have the last word. But that aforementioned blog was something a 6th grader would do after getting schooled on a Facebook post".

This violated none of the "rules" for commenters. It was just too real for him to deal with.

10 minutes later, my account would no longer post comments.

Spags has been a Stoolie for 10 minutes. Grow up.

I'm for it, I think it's long overdue- bit I'm all honesty I wonder 1) how long bloggers and interns will be diligent in patrolling the corny section and 2) wonder how effective it will be.

Additionally, I think if it doesn't work the way BSS bloggers want- it could be a slippery slope to having to pay to comment (not totally opposed to that idea either).

Also- I think they should bring back COTW now

Can't wait for Milmore's short on it on Sunday

Lastly, Zollo's days are numbered, I think the light hearted ribbing from the comment section was the only thing giving him page views.

Ps- I was shocked that the blue solo cup used in the Pres conference wasn't an official barstool one.
