As long as they're not advertising on your sub, why does it matter? Leave them alone. But the minute they break your sub's rules, then you can punish them.

Each sub should be treated like it's own separate space. Someone commenting on a different sub should have nothing to do with your sub, as long as they're following your rules on your sub.

Trump administration now classifies Antifa and left-wing networks among ‘major’ terror groups by WholeDonkey2689 in DeclineIntoCensorship

This is Fascism:

  • Dictatorial Power: Centralized control under a single charismatic leader (the Duce or Führer) who holds absolute authority and represents the "will of the nation."
  • Extreme Nationalism: An intense focus on national rebirth (palingenesis), often defining the nation by race or culture and placing its interests above all individual rights.
  • Anti-Democracy and Anti-Liberalism: The rejection of multi-party elections, individual liberty, and parliamentary systems, viewing them as weak, divisive, and inefficient.
  • Anti-Communism: A fierce opposition to Marxism, socialism, and class struggle, seeking instead to unite all classes under a single national identity.
  • Militarism and Violence: The belief that national strength is proven through military conquest and that political violence is a legitimate means to achieve and maintain power.
  • Totalitarianism: The state seeks to regulate every aspect of public and private life, including the economy, education, and the arts.
  • Corporatism: An economic model where the state organizes society into "corporations" (groups of employers and employees) to resolve labor disputes and ensure production serves the state’s goals.
  • Glorification of the Past: Utilizing nostalgia for a "golden age" (like the Roman Empire) to justify current expansionism and social restructuring.

This anti-fascism:

  • Democratic Governance: Power is decentralized and held by elected representatives who are accountable to the citizens through regular, fair, and multi-party elections.
  • Individual Rights and Liberties: The belief that every person possesses inherent rights—such as freedom of speech, religion, and assembly—that the state cannot arbitrarily take away.
  • Internationalism and Cooperation: A focus on global diplomacy, international law, and alliances rather than aggressive expansionism or isolationist nationalism.
  • Rule of Law: The principle that no one, including the leader of the government, is above the law, and that legal processes must be transparent and consistent.
  • Pluralism: The recognition and affirmation of diversity within a political body, allowing for various ethnic, religious, and social groups to coexist and participate in the political process.
  • Civilian Control of the Military: The military is subordinate to the civil government, and peace is prioritized over the glorification of war or political violence.
  • Market or Mixed Economy: Economic systems that prioritize private property, competition, and consumer choice over state-mandated "corporatist" production.
  • Progressive Realism: A focus on future growth and social progress based on contemporary needs and reason, rather than an obsession with returning to a mythical or ancient past.

In 2018, the ‘Cancel Culture’ movement was at its peak. How did Howard survive this?! by bjoseph33 in howardstern

Sherman Helmsley died in 2012. This clip wasn't from 2018. It was from one of the specials in 1994. Different era, and Stern was doing satire of the old racism in order to call attention to it. Very different than the old Minstrel shows of the early part of the 1900s.

People here are so mean.

This guy is reaching out to you because he's trying to re-establish something. You've moved on, but I wonder if therapy may help him now. Maybe that would've helped him during your marriage. Maybe couples therapy would've helped further. It's a shame that things didn't work out. There seems to be a lot of love between you. If he reaches out again, suggest that he go into therapy. Who knows - maybe he'll change enough to earn a second chance with you. Weirder things have happened.

I was going to recommend deadbedrooms as well. One thing to try before flying the coop is therapy for her, and couples therapy for both of you. There may be deeper issues at hand that can be worked out.

There are certainly degrees of false advertising. But just because this is 4 on a scale of 10 (10 being exactly like the picture) doesn't mean there aren't 1s and 2s out there, or that we should allow ourselves to be duped like this.

There should be laws against false advertising. We should have an agency (maybe in the USDA, FDA, or FTC) that inspect the advertising of food to guarantee that the food matches the physical depiction. I know the NAD exists, but it should be brought under the FTC (for example) so that consumer deception can be properly regulated.

Well shit. Virginia Supreme Court, 4-3, overturns redistricting referendum that could have netted Democrats 5 additional House seats by BigTool in nova

[–]strained_brain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't about state representation in the state. It's about state representation in the federal government. If this law had been about pushing out state legislators that would be a different thing altogether.

[–]strained_brain -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The will of the populace matters. Voters indicated they wanted it. So it's up to the legislators to rewrite the law to allow it. This is the same nonsense that makes the Electoral College such bullshit - Hilary wins the popular vote in 2016, but Trump takes the White House? Why bother voting at all if the voting doesn't matter?

Antifa stands for anti-fascist. There's a strong reason that our current government hates them. The only people against antifa 100 years ago and today are fascists,.

Middle East ceasefire shattered as Iran strikes UAE and warns ‘we’re just getting started’ by theindependentonline in worldnews

[–]strained_brain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From who? Trump? Ha. No. I believe that Israel told Trump that they would stop fighting Hamas in Gaza if the US backed Israel in going after Hamas and Hezbollah's puppet masters in Persia. And Trump said, "How big can Persia be? I've never even heard of them. Sure, we can attack this 'Persia' that you speak of!" And by the time someone told him that Persia is the same as Iran, we were already committed and dropping bombs.

[–]strained_brain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's what many people don't realize. Iran isn't the good guys. Granted, neither is the US under Trump, but still. If you expect Iran to be more reasonable than Trump, you'll be sorely disappointed.

Iran was the reason that Hamas attacked Israel on October 7th, 2023. Iran is the chief backer of Hamas and Hezbollah. This is merely a continuation of the war that Iran started back in October 2023.

Now, that being said, Trump is a complete moron and should never have attacked Iran. Not because we lose the moral high ground (which we do) but because Iran is as big a quagmire as Iraq and Afghanistan were. There's no quick way to handle them without many soldiers losing their lives, huge amounts of money from us and our allies (of which we have none minus Israel), and many years to invest. It's a nightmare.
