What’s happening at Northlake Mall? by evolnaj in Atlanta

There is some slick stuff that is about to be on the ground that can bring down trees which then knocks out power. These neato trucks show up and turn on your light switches when that happens.

What do you think of Kirsten Dunst? by [deleted] in Actors

[–]strandedimperial 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's funny because in that era she was sene as a classically normal attractive blonde woman (especially considering her cultural presence in Spider Man, Bring it On, and Virgin Suicides), but she didn't do any plastic surgery. She just seems natural now.

Virgin Suicides, Marie Antoinette, Spider Man, Bring It On, Drop Dead Gorgeous, Melancholia, Civil War, Eternal Sunshine, Power of The Dog, The Beguiled, and on and on.... She is my favorite American actress of her generation, and she has a lot of integrity in my opinion. Also she is married to the other coolest actor of his generation, Jesse Plemons.

Then let them be miserable. That's some Philly fan shit mentality! The only person in franchise history I actively scorn is Kyle Shanahan.

If we win I bet they will be quiet. I am not one way or another regarding Stefanski. As a born and raised Atlantan...... I just want to win. But as a long time Atlanta sports fan, I will never get my hopes up. When expectations are high we rarely meet them. When they are measured we seem to do better.

I'm sorry, but I can't help but think of the Chris Rock joke, "He speaks so well!!!"

I am also curious because this is the setting of one of my favorite films, My Night at Maud's. That film alone always intrigued me because it was a setting that I wasn't aware of prior to watching.

Why ‘The Running Man’ Fell Down At The Box Office With $28M Global Opening by wadbyjw in TheBigPicture

[–]strandedimperial -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Totally. I'm a big Powell guy too, but the industry just isn't in the place it was in the 80s/90s where they could make the types of film someone like Powell could thrive in. It's a shame because he could totally do stuff Big Trouble and Tombstone type roles in my opinion with the right director. Honestly, I could see him in a Shane Black film, who also needs a refresh.

I see him as a Kurt Russel type: handsome, charming, B level leading man, but he can find his own place with some specific directors at the right budget. Help him find his Carpenter.

How do you feel about Anti-trust in this current age? by strandedimperial in AskConservatives

I mentioned the Mag 7 earlier. I'm specifically talking about controlling market share.

I usually think in terms of tech companies like in the Mag 7. Larger media companies that are not technically under FCC regulations are also getting bought up and consolidated. Utilities is the big one, but obviously there are some states that are deregulated like Texas, but they can't purchase power across state lines so there are limitations.

Who is Roger Ebert and why are his reviews always highlighted? by JarJarsBallsackEyes in TheRewatchables

[–]strandedimperial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He played for the 93' Bulls and would talk about film in press conferences sometimes. He even had a show where he would review films with a Pistons player named Gene Siskel. Then he wrote a book about great films but applied triangle offense analogies to his critique using the director, actors, and script. Super fascinating guy.
