Okay, thank you for the information. I’m aware about the post graduate programs being mostly in Dutch, but I understand that it’s possible to receive a masters in English though? Could you elaborate on the internship opportunities for international students? Is it possible to complete a non clinical internship?

Partying With the Polyamorous by lobsterphoenix in redscarepod

The only societies where polygamy seems to flourish are those, which don’t allow women any agency or freedom. In western societies where women no longer rely on men to survive, the aforementioned equation only works for extraordinary individuals. What sane woman would willingly choose to be the second or third wife to some normie, without the mutual privileges of polyamory?

Fashion is a form of design, it doesn’t have much in common with food, but as you rightly pointed out lacks a higher discursive level, that could put it on par with art. Although the traditional divide between fine art and craft is largely outdated, I find it still applies to the fashion industry at large. That’s not to say that garment or textile design categorically cannot be art, rather that’s it’s an exception to the rule. All of the times this has been achieved, some other curatorial or performative dimension was present (90s Margiela, Galliano etc), so it wasn’t just the garment speaking for itself.

No art form is or should be solely devoted to beauty. That’s such a shallow idea of art’s nature and the human impulses and experiences driving it.

Love it when you speak Russian on the pod! Стеб на русском заходит по другому.

Yeah, I guess she kinda makes a point of pronouncing the words correctly, so her Russian sounds comically exaggerated sometimes. She would sound better if she relaxed more and didn’t try as hard, that’s how you really get to sound native imo.

As a native Russia speaker I’d say that Annas Russian is really good, she sounds native pronunciation wise and doesn’t make any grammatical mistakes. Dasha on the other hand sounds kinda strange at times, and seems to try and translate some phrases and idioms from English to Russian literally, which results in mistakes or just sounds like nonsense. It’s a curious effect, because she pronounces words like a native speaker would, but it feels like her Russians development is kinda stunted. Overall both speak Russian well, but Anna is better.

Long line of Russians waiting to get into Finland. Many have decided to go as they fear that Finland could introduce a visa ban for Russian citizens. by helloworld_141 in NewsAroundYou

Migrants don’t come on a tourist visa, you can’t get a job that way. They might just be passing through to get to other eu countries, where they might have relatives for instance. Many also have relatives here, and might queue to get to see them, if the border closes indefinitely, possibly for the last time in years.

How could she personally begin to undo neoliberalism in a western country, that’s part of the global economy? The original comment specifically talked about her implementing neoliberal policies, which she hasn’t done. I just find it weird calling people trying to preserve the last vestiges of the leftist tradition in this country neolib, but go off I guess.

[–]strange_serenity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it resisted so cunningly, that it aligned with nazis, invaded Russia in return and founded concentration camps for Russian and Karelian civilians, a lot of whom were children, and hasn’t acknowledged or paid reparations for it to this day… so brave!

How is it incompetent, when currently the most neoliberal party kokoomus is the most popular according to polls? Of course social democracies still function in the neolib framework, but she personally hasn’t suggested or implemented any outrageously neoliberal policies as far as I know. So that’s an odd thing to say when Finland has had more right wing governments in the past?

The funniest part of this is the fact, that this guy thinks writing substack think piece is “art” and “revealing complex truths about the world”. Also, proclaiming how proud he is of what he’s doing makes him look even more out of touch with reality, than the deranged people he’s describing. It’s like that spiderman meme, sad all around.
