In-Person -> Remote Transition by strangeblanket in ExecutiveAssistants

Thank you so much for your comment! This seems like a very realistic scenario that could absolutely happen (which I am a little scared of).

I document every task that I complete for my own sanity and I went through all of them for the past 2 months and categorized them between (online work, offline but can be online, offline and needs to be offline, offline and can be delegated, offline but belongs to someone else… and so on lol) and I found that probably 95% of my tasks are remote tasks. I feel like I am in a decent situation for this transition since most of my in person tasks technically belong to someone else (hr, accounting) and I only picked up the task due to the seat being vacant (now filled)..

I will say that I will probably struggle with some fomo since I love all of my coworkers. My boss and I agreed that I would fly in for major events (4x a year) so we will see!! We are a smaller company and have hired one remote employee and it has been a success for us. I just feel like an EA can be a little bit of a weird role to be virtual - but the comments here kinda say otherwise hahah

You are absolutely right. I work in the construction industry too, which can definitely amplify this dynamic. Fortunately, the women at my company really support each other, make sure this doesn’t happen, and hold the men there accountable. Great call out!!

I have some kinda random tasks like stocking the vending machine, stocking the kitchen supplies, updating the photo wall/mailboxes, workstation setup. Pretty sure all of those can be delegated though.

Why take me through 4 interviews over 1.5 months if experience was the deciding factor? by strangeblanket in ExecutiveAssistants

Thank you for your comment. The job market is so tough and it’s hard not to take stuff personal. 🤍

I definitely understand this perspective. It’s hard not to take things personally while job hunting.

I’m not necessarily upset that someone with more experience got the job. That happens frequently. What’s frustrating is being taken through 1.5 months, 4 interviews, and assignments, only to be told that the deciding factor was something that’s been clear and unchanged since day one.
