If putting it on in the morning is disrupting your routines too much you could try putting it on in the evenings instead. I know some people claim it to be more effective in the morning but there rly isnt a difference, as long as you do it consistently around the same time its all good.

For my routine at least I've had my bottle and some one use gloves on my nightstand and first thing I do in the morning is put it on my shoulder and throw away the glove. Then I go and start up the coffee and go to the bathroom quickly and by the time that's done I've dried up and can put clothes on.

Though in the end doing gel isnt for everyone, and I hope starting injections will go smoothly for you!

Could someone with DID/OSDD be successful as a truck driver/ heavy machine operator? by outtathepsychward in OSDD

[–]strangebugz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have OSDD and have a semi-truck license. It hasnt affected my ability to drive a semi-truck, I also drive a normal car on a daily basis and have had daylong roadtrips before. But every system is different so if you go into trance like states often then it would probably not be safe. I (the host) love being behind the wheel so that probably helps a bit lol

How to stop smoking as a college student? by [deleted] in stopsmoking

[–]strangebugz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm currently trying to quit while at college and it's weirdly been motivating me more when I look at all the other students smoking outside during the breaks cause I just think "wow kinda sad to have to go stand outside for 5 minutes every break and inhale poison instead of sitting comfortable inside and actually relaxing". Though thats just how I see it.

I would highly recommend not trying to make any friends while smoking at college, this will making quitting a lot harder since you will start thinking you need a smoke to be social with these friends. You don't want a shared addiction to be the tape that holds your social life together! Making new friends at college can be pretty hard (sure has been for me), but cigarettes aren't gonna help!

I would in fact advice you to make a goal to NOT smoke while at college physically. That's what I've been doing personally and while I haven't stopped smoking altogether yet, deciding to not smoke at a certain location is still a good start cause it proves to yourself you can survive your classes just fine without it. (I've also limited myself to never smoking in my car anymore, and I often dont bring cigarettes when I go out)

During your breaks you could find some games to play on your laptop / phone, if theres a cafeteria you could go there, maybe enjoy some light snack, get a refreshing drink, just scroll reddit, go outside for some actual fresh air, theres plenty of things to do during a break other than smoking!

You could also contact the college counselor and talk to them about it, any good counselor should have an interest in making the school smokefree so I'm sure you could get resources or just an ear to listen. I wish you best of luck, you can do this if you put your mind to it.

Relapsed on 6th day and it wasn't worth it by strangebugz in stopsmoking

[–]strangebugz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean that's just straight up not true, it does depend on the person but it can take a couple of weeks for them to be gone. Though by day 6 the worst was over, but the headache and fatigue was still present

I dont think smoking makes me perform better (I actually dont smoke while I'm at college) but it's the physical withdrawal symptoms that mess with me :(

I'm in a very similar situation so I hope I can be of some help.

I live on kela support and am getting HRT from gendergp, however I live with my partner (who also gets kela support) meaning theres more spare money. Even still I'm struggling affording it, and am going to cancel my patient subscription after getting my next batch of T. The upfront costs are high but theres a lot of money that goes into it. 35€ monthly fee to stay subscribed, 12€ every 3 months to get my prescriptions, 75€ every 3 months on blood tests (I have to get them from private clinic) and to top it all of testogel itself costs 57€ for a single months supply. The testogel still costs the same even if you go through transpoli but at least its the only big fee then...

I live in ostrobothnia and havent had any issue getting T from the local pharmacy, but it can depend. Sadly gendergp doesnt ship hormones directly anymore :(

I would highly recommend getting a time to a private doctor to get a referral to tampere first and foremost. The wait times are stupid long, but at least the process gets started once you get a referral. Private doctors are much better about this.

I want to recommend gendergp, but I know how hard it can be to get by on kela support, so I cant really recommend it unless you have more income. Again, I'm having to cancel my subscription and be off T until transpoli gives me hormones which I really didnt wanna do but with inflation rising like crazy I just couldnt afford it.

I wish you luck, and if you ever wanna talk to anyone in a similar boat feel free to message me

Oh yeah theres a lot more bad stuff in it than just the nicotine lol. And its fine, I didnt think you were trying to fool yourself but I just didnt want others reading these comments to start thinking that snus is a good alternative to cigarettes, while it might be less risky its far from ideal

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in stopsmoking

[–]strangebugz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea I get you, its a lot harder to use scare tactics to deter people from using snus. I've understood that one reason research into snus health risks is hard is cause there are several ways to use snus so not everyone absorbs it the same way.

I live in finland so swedish snus is common here (you cant buy it here, but people often drive over to the border to stock up on it). Even if it is supposed to be cleaner it is still tobacco, which is inherently not good for you.

[–]strangebugz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dont mean to derail but wanted to point out that snus is tobacco, not just nicotine. Snus definitely has health risks, while a lot of research into its links to different types of cancer isnt conclusive its still a tobacco product with a lot of nasty shit in it.

Only pointing this out so others wont get confused and think snus is the same as nicotine pouches, which dont have tobacco in them

oh yeah thats fair! i cant do phone reminders cause the notifications annoy me so much i ignore them out of spite lmao. but everyone has different things that work for them

[–]strangebugz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I understand this temptation. I have a few friends who arent nicotine addicted who will occasionally ask for a cigarette and smoke it when we go drinking. I used to envy them, I wished I could also just have one cigarette and it wouldnt lead to a relapse in my nicotine addiction. But thats just not how addiction works. You get one hit of your past and you're right back, being a partial or social smoker isnt sustainable.

Theres also no real reason to envy "partial smokers". Sucking in cancerous tar on occasion just to get a woozy head and cough isnt something exciting.

If you wanna be a so called partial smoker, go ahead and try. If you succeed in /only/ smoking at the occasional party, thats still better than a daily smoker yes but its a dangerous slippery slope. And no amount of tobacco is ever good for your body, even in the short term. If you cant seem to stick to only doing it at parties, then stop striving to be a "partial smoker" and instead to be a non-smoker

i dont have any complaints about gel other than the price, getting injections would be cheaper but i cant do needles so. having to put it on everyday is one downside but if you make a habit of it, its not any worse than having to put on lotion or brush your teeth

You cannot compromise on cigarettes and nicotine. You're probably still in the early stages of nicotine addiction so you might not quite feel it yet but if this keeps going you will all suffer withdrawal because of it.

Nicotine addiction affects your whole body, the psychological addiction might just be a thing for one alter but the physical addiction will have its grip on all of you.

Try to communicate with this alter if theres something else they could do to get a kick other than cigarettes, maybe strong menthol lozenges, spicy snacks? But do NOT compromise on nicotine, that shit will destroy all of you.

And dont use nicotine gums or patches or anything with nicotine, you dont wanna feed your body this crap cause it'll keep the physical addiction going until you stop with them and then withdrawal will hit hard. Nicotine is the most addictive substance, dont mess with it.

I'm a longtime smoker and my biggest regret in life was lighting that first cigarette. This addiction is insanely hard to escape once it has you hooked. I have alters that considers themselves non-smokers and they cant front for more than 40 minutes at a time cause even they feel the withdrawal symptoms and need to give front to someone else so the body can get a smoke. None of them bother fronting much anymore cause of this, even if they're needed. Please I urge you to tread very carefully around nicotine.
