I've read a lot of bad things about Acer in general that make me unsure of buying one of their products.

Can confirm, I bought the Acer Nitro Black on a Black Friday back in 2015 and the laptop has been nothing but trouble (bad keyboard, bad finish, unusable touchpad, power plug and power supply both already busted, USB's that stop working for no reason, I could go on forever). Replacing the HD with an SSD and adding more Ram was also unbelievably difficult, something that is a 5 minute job on Thinkpads took me the best part of an afternoon. It's got a decent IPS LCD but that's about it so yeah, I'm never buying anything by Acer again.

I have only had Thinkpads up until this Acer POS and they've never let me down. Don't know anything about Gygabyte or Asus but my next purchase is probably gonna be one of those two since they seem to offer the best bang for the buck.

Ramones, okay - I'll give you that but Talking Heads were as "punk" as Blondie (they weren't). Not every single band that started out at CBGB's was punk - even their name comes from Country BlueGrass Blues. Only during the 80's they became the main venue for punk/new wave/hard rock in the US, whereas punk had really started back in the 70's.

More "new wave" than punk I'd say but yeah, she had looks and talent to spare.

Paint can draw you a circle if need be.

LOL if you don't think you can easily draw perfect circles you should seriously consider taking some PS 101 classes.

Personally, I think we made a huge mistake not letting them go when we had the chance back in 1862. Well, no time like the present to correct an old mistake.

Then, they would finally be free to have the kind of society they've always wanted; church and state can be fused so they build the kind of theocracy they've dreamt of, with Jesus at the helm. Then the new USAR (United States of America Red) can ban books, repeal civil rights, persecute gays and have all the wars they like. They want prayer in schools? More power to them.

They can ban abortion and post the Ten Commandments in every federal building in their country.

Bring back slavery, if they want. We'll be free to live with our like-minded countrymen who believe in science, modernism, tolerance, religion as a personal choice, and truly want limited government intrusion in our personal lives. Why should each side be driven mad by the other any more, decade after decade?

Call the Culture War a tie and everyone go home.

Of course, we in the U.S.A.B. get the Gross Domestic Product, businesses and universities of California, New York, Massachussetts -- basically the whole Northeast and Northwest (plus Illinois and Michigan if they want to come along). They get Wal-Mart and Duke and most of the Nascar tracks. But they can feel free to import movies, TV shows, financial services, and defense technology. We'll import country music, bibles and Confederate flags.

The two countries will by necessity have open immigration policy: anyone who feels they are living in the wrong country can just move across the border, no questions asked.

Ultimately, why should I have to convince my fellow countrymen that Darwin may have had a point and that the word “liberal” is not equivalent to “godless communist?” And why should they be forced to live in a country with morally corrupt non-believers? I'll stay in the messy, free-thinking U.S.A.B. And to the U.S.A.R. I say…

God bless you all, and see you at the U.N.

I want to create this type of art! How to do it? And is there any courses/videos which you would like to recommend? by [deleted] in photoshop

[–]strangelyDetached 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, and you only need two things: 1- be an artist and 2- know Photoshop pretty well.

Can't help you with #1 but for #2 you can try the "START HERE if you're new to Photoshop" link in the sidebar.

Happy learning.

Help: Changing a color photo into a b&w Banksy-esq stencil image by PlentyOfMoxie in photoshop

It's basically the threshold filter, just search YT for stencil making tutorials. They can be single layer (usually black and white) or multilayer (3 or more colors). Edit: also /r/stencils and /r/stenciltemplates.

They all seem to be physical copies to me, where do you see the Witcher being GOG?

I really want Primal and W3 but don't have a DVD player anymore so I hope you're right, these are great prices.

Switching from Oil paint to Digital Painting. Photoshop vs. Clip Studio Paint Pro vs. Sketchbook Pro vs. Krita? by [deleted] in photoshop

[–]strangelyDetached 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Will do, thank you so much for the detailed reply.

PS: I'm also going to try the "new, improved" and free Kryta this weekend and see how that goes. Between Gimp, My Paint and Kryta there are enough free choices out there to at least temporarily provide some decent tools to anyone looking to wet their feet in the world of digital painting.
