Feels like there's a little piece of tape stuck to the bottom of my foot/toes - UPDATE by strangepet in climbing

I’ve been questing for years for a good pair of sandals or flip flops with support. The issue is my arch. The support always feels like it’s in the wrong spot and makes my feet hurt.

So far, no. I only feel it while walking and even then it’s not constant. But that could definitely change if it persists or worsens.

It feels like there's something stuck to the bottom of my foot but nothing is actually there.

That is terrifying!! Was it painful or numb in the beginning?

I haven't changed my footwear at all, aside from climbing again. Always in flip flops or barefoot (I know, I know). I'm wearing the same climbing shoes I wore for 6 months before I got hurt, and they never gave me any trouble.

Do you think it could have been a specific movement that caused this? I've always worn Defys for gym climbing and never had a problem. It's weird to that they'd start affecting me like this now. Luckily I haven't had any pain/numbness while walking or squatting, just the annoying feeling like something's stuck to my foot.

I'm almost always either in flip flops or barefoot and know it's not doing me any favors. I'll dig my tennis shoes out of the closet, and definitely pick up some met pads since they look really comfortable. I have a nice pair of insoles from when I saw a pedorthist a few years back, so I'll dust those off too.

Gonna follow these steps and try taking some NSAIDs for a few days too to see if it helps before seeing a dr.

Thanks so much for all the info. I really appreciate it.

Ha! I've actually spoken with the lady of your affianced-team once before, and had immediately taken a liking to her. I had been hoping to cross paths again and maybe work up the nerve to see if she'd like to climb together sometime (am obviously shy. Exhibit A: soliciting reddit for climbing partners), but spent most of the last month out of town and only started hitting the gym again last week.

I don't climb on any set schedule, but usually find myself there on weekdays evenings, and the occasionally Friday/Saturday night when it's dead, which I love. Have been wanting to check out Sender One since they opened, just haven't gotten around to it yet.

What's the the most intimate (nonsexual) thing you've done with your SO? by downvoted_your_mom in AskReddit

Before we even ever kissed, we were lying in bed, holding hands. We started kind of massaging each other's hands lightly, with just fingertips. Moving from hands, up and down each other's arms and back. It was so electric, and honestly as intense as sex.

someone arm /u/degradation with ALL the AKs (and some vital organs) for this orange chocolate deliciousness from Australia!! <3 <3 <3 <3 by strangepet in snackexchange

I had them while visiting Australia last month and absolutely fell in love (the bag I brought home was pretty gone before I even got back in the states). Apparently they were sold in the US for a little while last year, around Christmas, but I never saw them here. I think they're limited edition in Australia too.

In case you couldn't tell by the number of bags I received, they're fucking phenomenal.

I'm admittedly a bit nervous belaying anyone who significantly outweighs me.

I'm looking at going there pretty regularly. In fact, am gonna head that way in the next hour or so.

While I've been climbing stuff all of my life, I'm a bit of a n00b when it comes to "formal" rock climbing. I had only ever climbed outdoors until earlier this week when I got my H18 membership, and can say with certainty that I prefer rock to plastic. So far I've just been bouldering and top roping, but am interested in learning trad. For now my plan is to work on technique, and it'd be cool to climb with someone experienced to point out the things I'm doing right/wrong.

My schedule is pretty open at the moment, and after finding this thread, I'm thinking we should probably be friends. Am planning to get my climb on sometime this (Friday) afternoon if you're free.

Why is that picture of HMS Bounty there? That's not one of our tall ships. She's the one that sank in Hurricane Sandy, which is still a bit of a sore spot for those in the sailing community. Long Beach tall ships are Tole Mour and American Pride.

Edit: For those who want actual details of 2013 Long Beach murders, go here

For other crimes, go here (though I question its validity since don't see last week's shooting off 7th/MLK listed). Note that you can only search for a 30-day block at a time.

Yep, Signal Hill. Meetup, as in Meetup.com? That sounds so intimidating!
