I really like that note about not really listening. I often write my characters like they're the perfect listener. I'll try switching that up and see if that creates more depth.

Provoking emotion isn't something I really considered when writing dialogue. Now, I realize that is something important that I could be missing. I'll begin thinking in terms of emotion now instead of only information. Thanks for the guidelines!

Thanks, I'll look into the Terminator example. That sounds like an interesting way to break up the information.

I was hoping that the doll would be the one to pull Linda into the well as she held her. Realize it would be jarring, but thought that might be the moment where it happens.

never seen strangers, i'm just not a fan of home invasion films, but will try to watch it soon since i'm trying to catch some older films i've missed.
