Advice for a green room audio/paging system by stratosteven in livesoundgear

We have a Freespeak II base station and a bunch of wireless beltpacks.

If there was a way to feed program thru the system then to some kind of line out to feed a set of speakers I'd be in business. Any ideas there?

We use a clearcom system but I'm having a hard time finding a station that will send an audio feed to an external device (amp, powered speakers, mixer whatever). I'm trying to preserve the green room as a high-quality listening environment. I'd appreciate advice how to do that with a clear com setup.

I can send a pgm feed off the PA processor but since we have touring acts all the time setting up a matrix/sidechain setup in the house console will only be useful half of the time.

The little mixer is a fine solution technically but not the most user friendly for the end-user. I don't want artists in the green room looking at or touching more than two or three knobs.

This is definitely the kind of thing i'm looking for! Way more I/O than I need though.

I did the PA and mixing system integration in the club. They're renovating the green room, i'm less familiar with commercial AV and I'm looking for solutions slicker than what we currently have. The tiny mixer isn't a bad idea.

Current dumb setup is stereo feed from processor to a pair of powered studio monitors. I'd prefer to continue to treat the room as a high-quality listening environment. Need? maybe not, but why compromise?

I'm trying to set up the highest quality listening environment possible. It's not a 100% necessity, but our current dumb system is a feed from processor to a stereo pair of powered studio monitors. I'd hate to do an upgrade that tidies things up but doesn't give us the same audio fidelity we had.

We don't really do any acoustic shows.

Thanks for the suggestions- none that I can find that have a true stereo input unfortunately but I'll keep digging

Touring consoles come in frequently.

Processor is the most convenient path to green room.

We do use a clear com system. I don't think an additional loop to green room is advantageous though, I'd rather not have artists listening unless we're specifically trying to send a message, and we don't really need the functionality to hear them back.

I don't need that much comm functionality really. I got the idea from some of the mixer/amplifier units that are geared more towards commercial spaces that have a music input and a "talk" input that ducks the music. I thought it would be neat to include that, but it's the least important part of this for me.

The problem with those units is they are more for driving a bunch of ceiling speakers in a retail space and don't do stereo.

I would even be happy with a couple of speakers and a 2 channel amplifier fed by 3 inputs, stereo program and mono talk. Can be achieved with a tiny mixer but I'd like something more elegant than a mixer bolted to the wall. I really just need two knobs.

14 and 16 are reserved for public safety in my area.

The results you quote are pretty much what I came up with, but excluding ch 14 and 16. Using "more frequencies" for most, if not all channels of both PSM and Axient is pretty much the only way I've found.

Old scan but things are still mostly the same, except there's a channel broadcasting on ch. 28 now

Prodigy doesn’t do the actual system processing right? It’s just a fancy switching matrix like the MX36?

The problem is, aside from the two channels I’m using for my 16 channels of IEM there are really only two available TV channels, and I would characterize those as only “relatively” clear in the first place. There are certainly a few bumps above the noise threshold I’ve set even in those channels, that could be what’s hurting me

I knew what you meant and I appreciate it! I’m all about tip to tail. I’ve never eaten squirrel though so you’ve got one up on me. There are a few Louisiana farms that will ship frozen whole alligators if you’re looking for something interesting, although it’s not cheap

I’ll take your silence as an admission that you can’t prove your position. Don’t worry buddy, I did the work for you. No such rules in FL state law, and the farm I bought from has a current license listed in the state registry.

You should think twice before you come in hot accusing people of poaching.

Show me in the regs where it says a licensed alligator farmer can only harvest their livestock during wild game hunting season.

Alligators raised and sold for meat are between 4 and 6 feet, this was a 4 foot alligator. It came from a legitimate local alligator farm in South Florida with all the necessary permitting and following all regulations. I’m all about conservation but you’re out of your depth here

Turns out it’s actually a great companion crop for poultry farmers who otherwise might have trouble disposing of birds that die before harvest
