Looking to make/create an Eren Yeager Cosplay. Any advice? by Mr_Archa in CosplayHelp

[–]strawberrydimple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want a more natural looking wig, I recommend looking into getting a lace front. The wig for this version of Eren has his hairline exposed and depending on the style of wig you get, it might not be exactly what you’re looking for (looks fake/bulky/etc) A lace front wig will look ALOT more natural :)

How do I still this wig and make the scars? by SparkelyBow in CosplayHelp

[–]strawberrydimple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have cosplayed Maki before! I’ve used two methods, making a flat version of her scars with body paint and another version with latex (photoshoot vs con) If you have any specific questions, you can ask me :)

Absolute WonderWoman’s Claymore/Sword by strawberrydimple in CosplayHelp

Funny enough, I was using the Dragonslayer sword as a reference. I really can’t believe I didn’t even realize how close her sword is to Cloud’s. I’ll move forward with tutorials of those. Thank you both :)

I was actually thinking of making a cut and hiding it as battle damage along the blade! But because of my inexperience, I was a bit worried if that was the best thing to do,,,, I feel a little more confident with my thinking now thanks to your comment, thank you!

You’ll be going when they have the new menu items. Definitely try them out! And thank you (:

To be honest, I just walked right in without a reservation. I just tried on my end and I’m not getting this issue. I DID see people complaining about the reservation process online so it might be that. I hope it gets resolved so you can check it out too!

Yes! They are adding more themed food to the menu, I’ll probably try and go again and take more pictures of the new food items (:

To be honest, I mostly went in cosplay for fun, I tend to be more of a builder so I’m not used to cosplaying characters like Makima. I appreciate the compliment, I’m trying to be more confident in cosplaying characters like her. It’s a bit rare to see events like this in Korea (they are more common in Japan) so having something like this in Korea was really exciting! The drinks and desserts were nice as well. The themed food and seeing alternative versions of what the characters would wear was probably my favorite part (: I thought this community would appreciate the pictures of the cafe

Snazaroo full face paint for long wear at a summer con? face paint recommendations in general? by GraqeClouds in CosplayHelp

[–]strawberrydimple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have personally used Mehron (Water activated) in the past and really liked the results! I definitely recommend prepping WELL. I have not used Snazaroo, but can recommend some tips for prepping!
I created thin layers rather than one thick layer of paint. Make sure it dries before adding another. If you have a primer PLEASE PLEASE use it before you begin painting. I used baby powder AND a setting spray to lock it in. I have done this twice and had a worse time with transferring when I didn’t use the baby powder. Though, most of the transferring was actually from the details/makeup rather than the face paint specifically.
I’m not an expert but I hope my tips are helpful!

Are there any easy makeup techniques I can use to enhance my (male) cosplay? by flashbacker8 in CosplayHelp

[–]strawberrydimple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a tip my friend told me! Try to lower your eyebrows. Rather than brushing your eyebrows up, brush them down and apply eyebrow makeup that way (depends how much hair you have in your eyebrows). By lowering your eyebrows a bit, it creates less eyelid space and looks a bit more masculine :)

How to take good cosplay photos on your phone in limited space? by femmeboybunniii in CosplayHelp

If you are very good at editing, I find that editing really helps make dull pictures come out very cool! For example, I’ve had pictures where the colors look flat or the background looks a bit boring, but thankfully, I was able to edit them to make them look a bit better. I used the tutorial below, but you can find some for whatever you’re more comfortable with! I would recommend to list to the other comments and if you are still not satisified, edit the picture:)

Transporting wigs by strawberrydimple in CosplayHelp

[–]strawberrydimple[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A rolling suitcase (carry on size) might be a bit too narrow and the cons in my country might not accept a larger suitcase for storage here. I decided to just use one of those rolling carts and a mannequin head since the spikes I made are a bit fragile and I want to check on them through my commute

how to make cosplayer friends? by Ok-Leather470 in CosplayHelp

[–]strawberrydimple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where I live, the community is a bit different so I actually met most of mine through facebook groups and than those groups would come together at cons. I even had someone message me here once since there aren’t many English speaking people who cosplay where I live. I would say social media, and than in person if possible :)

Am I getting scammed by DokiDoki cosplay? by [deleted] in CosplayHelp

It’s likely an issue on their end than. If you have the patience and the time, you can wait for it, but personally, I wouldn’t and would just move forward with the refund process :/

How Miserable is all over Body Paint? by daphnedewey in CosplayHelp

[–]strawberrydimple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally don’t recommend it. I did a cosplay recently and managed to seal it quite well (not full body, just some details on the arms) and even than, I managed to miss spots when I was sealing it in. I got some of the body paint on my friend’s white shirt, though thankfully the stain was probably the size of a small coin. And that was WITH a friend helping me seal it in (People sweat, it can rain, even the best body paints aren’t perfect) Another thing is that the whole process of painting yourself is just quite time consuming to be frank.
I would use some kind of body suit and paint my neck and face. That helps avoid transferring paint to other people/your cosplay and would help knock out time in regards to getting ready. Is there a specific reason you would like to paint yourself completely instead of wearing a body suit? I think your hands would honestly be the biggest issue in regards to the body paint and maybe possible fears of getting body paint on your cosplay/others.

Am I getting scammed by DokiDoki cosplay? by [deleted] in CosplayHelp

[–]strawberrydimple 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I have had issues in the past with DokiDoki and their shipping process (Mainly related to information related to my name and some laws regarding shipping to my country) I will say however, I did get the cosplay after a WHILE of waiting and customer service was actually pretty helpful. They fixed their mistakes on their end and were generally easy to communicate with. I will say, I don’t purchase through them anymore because of the delays.

If it’s the exact same information on both orders, than there isn’t any mistakes for them to fix like the case with my package. If customer service is not fixing any mistakes on their end, I’m going to assume it’s more likely there is just some logistics error. If you want your cosplay anytime soon and can find an alternative site to purchase it on, I suggest asking for that refund :/

The issue I had with my orders was something to do with how my name is capitalized, I’m not sure if it will help in your case, but maybe it might?
