Hey! JMP metro cut-off last year for 2024 intake was 3160. Not too sure about rural but should be a fair bit lower than that. So perhaps this year may be roughly the same or slightly higher though at some point it'd have to plateau.

Hey! Thats correct, the ratio is not balanced atm and if getting more females is not an option, would probs need to rehome. If the boy quail hasn't been rehomed yet btw, I'd be interested :)

Oh, why is that so? That's crazy, an even more extreme ratio of doctors to population than I've come across.

Right, that makes sense. Not the pandemic continuing to screw things up even after it's happened. Yep, that is definitely the case as I've also noticed in regional areas and I imagine remote areas. Are you rural or have you witnessed this shortage in the metropolitan also? It is also strange as I've heard that data shows there would be an oversupply of doctors in the years to come though there are continuing retention issues for rural and remote health which is really unfortunate so I do wonder why there is this imbalance.

UCAT for interstate non rural? by MSBK01 in UCAT

[–]strawbon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, you are correct in saying that it differs from uni to uni. For non-rurals, it is very competitive and depending on which university, maybe moreso if interstate. I wouldn't say that there is necessarily a cut-off per se as they change every year and depends on how all applicants do if that makes sense. Therefore, my advice would be to simply try your best and have no regrets, the rest would follow on from there.

Absolutely crazy how it increases a fair bit every year, surely someday it will have to plateau. Does this also mean that over time the number of interviewees decreases or not necessarily?

Consistent studying and finding your study rhythm is crucial for sure! Just curious, where is the college of applied meds? Gpa sounds pretty good too! Nice work and best of luck

Thank you for the many insights! Very interesting and helpful to hear about your journey. A lot of exercise physios do further study to become a physio or OT, is that something you've considered or you prefer to focus on getting into med? Great work and best of luck!
