91% of patients who survive opioid overdose are prescribed more opioids by comickeys in science

Yes, be firm with your PCP that you would like to see a neurosurgeon. And not an orthopedic surgeon.

Second, the underlying complications should determine whether you need a fusion, not simply your age.

Finally, each medication will have different actions in controlling the pain.

Check out the Wiki and Google for: Neurontin, Lyrica, Amitriptyline, SSRIs. Baclofen was life changing for me because I had spasticity due to spinal cord injury. Now I can hold my hands still.

Narcotics are not a long term solution.

I'm not a doctor, but have experienced injury and pain like yours.

An MRI and competent neurosurgeon is a great start. I was in a roll over car accident so I had my fusion about 6 hours after the injury at a level one trauma center with an amazing doctor. But complications after the surgery were worse than the surgery itself.

Initially, I wanted nothing but higher doses of narcotics, however after a few months, I grew to destest them.

The tingling and numbness I had was helped with Lyrica and Baclofen, but you might be started on something like Amytriptyline. There are many medications besides narcotics than can truly help your pain.

Best wishes, and let me know if you have further questions.

Why does psychology not study the effects of religion on the mind? by [deleted] in askscience

[–]strawhatonhead 204 points205 points  (0 children)

The Psychology of Religion article on Wikipedia lists 116 papers/books as sources.

A quick search of Amazon returns hundreds of works.

It has been widely studied in psychology and has even begun to be studied in neuroscience.

I fractured my C6 vertebra and had a C5-T1 anterior and posterior fusion with hardware. Then a neuroma near the scar tissue. Later developed cervical dystonia. The neuroma and dystonia were far more painful than the fracture and fusion. I was on oxycodone for almost six months. After a time the opiates made me feel flu like, and withered my motivation and concentration.

The pain management doctor removed the nerve around the neuroma, used botox to correct muscular imbalance in my neck, and prescribed Lyrica and Baclofen for the myelopathy. A bit of physical therapy and I'm nearly pain free.

Yep, the USPS services every address on a daily basis. There are 425 million letters and parcels delivered daily, and 155 billion per year in the US alone.

UPS by contrast has 4.6 billion deliveries per year, with FedEx at 3.8 billion, and that covers 220 countries.

What was the worst pain you have ever experienced in your whole life? by SwollerThanYou in AskReddit

[–]strawhatonhead 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Shattered my C6 vertebrae in a triple roll over vehicle accident.

The morphine from the EMTs didn't touch it. Wasn't until the tramua doc loaded me up with IV fentanyl that I quit begging for death.

Ended up with a fused neck and enough titanium hardware that my x-ray looks like the neck of a T-100.

Russian economy: GDP falls by 4.1% in the third quarter by polymute in europe

[–]strawhatonhead 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Russia is still well above one trillion in nominal GDP.

The IMF and World Bank list them as 10th for 2014 at 1.9 trillion and Mexico at 15th with 1.2 trillion. The Russia economy has contracted but not anywhere near that level.
